closer to the full dot than the middle. digital guage shows 2-3 bars missing. depends how long I let it sit.

The garage that fixed my vac leaks did say that I had overfilled the oil. That surely doesnt help.

Blew up my fathers snowmobile 2 weeks ago, so I have another motor to build. At least this one will only costs me about $1000 in parts. lol
What sled? I'm an avid snowmobiler! Put around 10,000 km on average on a winter!

10k?

lol.

Thats some serious mileage. I'm happy to put 2500km in a year. I leave my driveway and hit the trails after work and go out for an hour or 2....I might do 1, maybe 2 big trips a year.

I don't have anything special. A 97 Yammy VMAX XT, and the one I blew up was my fathers, a 04 Yammy Venture 700. Thats what I am fixing right now. blew out a needle bearing on the middle rod. That was 20km into the 1 of my yearly trips for 2017. Only took my old mans sled because it has mirrors and we were on Quebec trails (you need mirrors when on their trails) for that trip.

I've read that the dot is overfilled. The line at top is full or the line at bottom of stick is low.

Jake says let it sit a minimum of 24 hours before checking oil(on stick) for full drain back.

i can check the digital gauge 45 minutes after parking the car....its 2 bars from the BOTTOM.

Check the next morning, it will be 4 bars from the TOP. Check that evening and it be 2 bars down from the top.

I check the dipstick at the same time....same thing.

Like clockwork.

Im not obsessed or anything.

Nice! Yes I run between New Liskard and Quebec all winter. Mostly Ville Marie and around Rouyn. We make a few trips to LASarre and Val d'Or as well. I buy new each season otherwise the km make it worthless to keep more than a year. I did keep a 2012 skidoo 1200 4 stroke, after 2 seasons it had 23,000 km on it. Never skipped a beat and changed next to no parts.

I just read your entire thread from beginning to end... what a story and really amazed by your work and efforts. You deserve some quality time with your car, more than anybody I know!

Btw another good Porsche shop in Ottawa is RJ Motors... IMO.

Cheers

Dead center on the stick was recommended by Jake and it works great. Pulling almost 1.5g with full slicks I never get any smoke with a regular AOS. I also follow the 24 hour rule, or at least overnight. You can check the oil on mine on the dipstick after sitting, start the car and shut it off, check again and get a lower reading. That's why I don't bother taking oil to the track unless it will be there overnight.

"Im not obsessed or anything."

Totally understandable after your ordeal. The good part is that the obsession seems to have paid off!
