You mean: "... that is illegal here in ... Ontario!"
It is legal in British Columbia, but not necessarily held in high regard by the Mounted ones!

WOW want a great thread. Congrats on your build, time investment and courage to see it through. Makes me wonder what I could have (or had someone else do) to my 996. They are fun cars.

Your first start up video was great. I even gave a little cheer for you. Post another one when you can.

Inspirational!

Probably not the video you guys wanted to see at this point but I was going through some old files and found my vids I took of Cold start up and idle when it HAD scored cylinders.

The smoke on start up isn't that bad the time I recorded but its still significant. It would smoke a lot more than that sometimes. And the smoke was white, then it would be blue the next time. And other times it would NOT smoke at all.

You can really hear the ticking/knocking at the end when I put the camera underneath, but I try to capture all the symptoms. Blackened out tailpipe from he scored bank....smoke on start up.....heavy oil consumption (you can see it coming out the tailpipes - ffs, lol), and the knocking.

And as you'll see....idles perfect....no check engine lights.

Porsche C4S Scored Cylinders - YouTube
That's a classic scored cylinder example.. It hits all the marks. People will learn from this one.

What kind of oil consumption were you seeing? Sorry if this has been covered - it's a long thread!

I saved the "first start" video for after I read the whole thread.... Just finished, and went back to pg 18 and watched your video. I was yelling with you and gave a fist pump in the air.

Hats off to you! Mucho Respecto...

Massive congratulation!

ARGH. How come every time I want to go to the track, something comes up...

As I pulled into work parking lot today, check engine comes on. Friggin P0171 again. This is after a good 1000km's since the new MAF went in...

Idle's great, pulls strong, doesn't seem like there's an issue.

Now....the O2 Sensors at some point were spliced, I'm not even convinced they are the ones for the car. Looks like they were spliced to make fit or someone had a AF gauge on it....but for an NA car, I don't know why someone would do that.

I'm not seeing any symptoms of a vacuum leak. I'm leaning to faulty O2 sensor.

Guess i can grab a can of propane and check for leaks at the track....
