My 3.8L block is back from LN!
Took a little over a month. Beautifully machined! I could also see that they went over every inch of the whole block to touch things up. I also checked the deck carefully with a straight edge and the previously low spots were all gone. Very happy with the craftsmanship.
Each block is stamped with a serial number and a hand written paper with the actual measured diameter (very close to 99mm). My papers were signed by someone called "J.R.". Probably a coincidence
The outer diameter is 115mm so each cylinder is about 8mm thick (compared to 6mm of the stock 3.6). With that thickness, the cylinders are gonna be very stable. There are still some metal dusts on it (expected) so I'll need to give it a thorough bath.

As you're probably aware, give it a nice warm soapy bath, get some long soft wire bottle brushes and clean all of the passages you can, rinse, rinse rinse. Dry well. Get some Kimwipes and brake kleen. Spray and wipe each cylinder as many times as it takes so no more dark colors appear on the wipes.
Good luck on the assembly, but I think you have been to class, so you shouldn't need it!

Yes, that's the plan. Will make it so clean I can eat off it There's some residual green slimy stuff where the stepped sleeves are pressed into the cylinders. Looks like lubrcant. Also quite a bit of aluminum dust inside the coolant passages as well.
Now I understand why Jake has an ultrasounic cleaner that costs more than most of our cars haha

Thanks Charles and the crew in LN Engineering!
Look what Charles sent me! A new IMS with the IMS Solution already installed as a courtesy of LN!! Unbelievable generosity. I sent in the destroyed bearing and shaft and these are what I got in return
I've bought the 3.8 Nickies and JE piston/rings package and a bunch of other upgrades such as the billet IMS paddle, low temp thermostat, chromoly oil pump hex drive, timing chains, etc. All with deep discounts. I also want to mention LN's customer service is top notch. Excellent communications. John always follows up and makes sure everything is good.
Again, THANK YOU Charles! Will repay you by carefully rebuilding my engine Already sent the engine heads to Len for a total rebuild and some minor port work also.
With the IMS Solution, no more worries about the damn bearing...now where should I put that sticker?
The complete IMS Solution Kit with a new IMS
See how beefy the IMS flange is. Prolly weighs twice the stock flange.
The special port where freshly filtered oil is tapped. The regular spin-on filter doesn't have this port.

Thanks guys! Yeah, will definitely take more photos when I have all the parts.
Good question about the heat mark and I also noticed it too. Let me ask Charles and see what he says. I also saw some similar heat marks on other photos on google.
@Joe..do it! Bore out yours to 3.8 will be pretty sweet Next step is cleaning, a lot of it haha

In addition to the larger center bore, the two smaller bores also have the rainbow discoloration...suggesting that it's a process and not a problem.
