Yup, it gives me plenty of time to deal with the heads and collect parts.

There are so many things you can upgrade/address in this engine so you really need some discipline to draw the line somewhere After careful thinking, I've decided to reuse the rods but use ARP con rod bolts and the LN billet IMS paddle. I do have a 3 page long factory parts list though.

There will be one significant upgrade that I can't resist. Will show you guys once I receive the block back

$450 shipped with $2500 insurance.

LNE needs different shipping options for Canadian customers. UPS is a major rip off and most people in the gear head community absolutely despise UPS and their made up fees.

Wow, that's crazy. You can ship the whole engine (500lb+) here in US for $450.
I used Fedex ground...not sure if that will be cheaper for you in Canada.

Default The power of soda blasting

Another day of cleaning. The cam covers are full of nooks and crevices and cosmoline. Even a small wire brush won't reach those. Should be done with cleaning.....for now

Ashai, what do you use to clean those besides the elbow grease?

Soda blasting! Quite messy but it's worth it.

Thanks! You got a GT3 so you have nothing to worry about for your engine

I use Simple green precision cleaner (for aircraft aluminum). Oven cleaner is acidic and corrosive. It attacks and darkens aluminum alloys. It's good on stainless steel and steel parts though. If you have to use a stronger cleaner, you can try diluted Zep industrial purple degreaser. It should work fine as long as you don't let it dry on the parts.

^Pretty much the same as "Super Clean" (Sodium Hydroxide)^ Great stuff, but you have to be careful with it. Definitely dilute, and don't let it stand too long - also don't use on hot parts (warm is ok), and be careful about breathing the fumes...

Simple Green is the only thing I have in my household as it's really versatile and bio degradeable too.

I've used Zep and Super Clean and those are some powerful cleaners too as long as you don't use it on any show quality polished aluminum. Ask me how I know.

Actually, that was my since sold 997.1 C2S Aerokit Coupe. Miss it, so looking at a less (?) costly 996 Coupe as a replacement now. Hoping I never have to replicate your experience (not capable of that), but still very informative and enlightening.

Wrap with one layer of electrical tape.

Fits perfectly.
