996 aero kit picture thread.

The Sport Designs are a great wheel. Robert, really digging your guards red aero car- I had the opportunity to snag a 99 factory aero, in guards red about 4.5 yrs ago. Should’ve moved on it that one. Either way, I just sourced all the oem aero parts the hard way and converted my 01 black car. 996.1 aero cars have really aged amazingly.

Decided to remove the side vinyl to enhance the lines with the aero rocker. I think, other than considering some SM-10 wheels, and the option to swap the Ruf spoiler with the OE unit, the look and stance are good to go for me.

Sleepycyclist, would also like to hear how you ended up sourcing your kit. FTWRLD- Heres some info how I sourced mine.
The front oem aero bumper came from a gentleman that was on 6speedonline- bumper was flawless.
Sourced the oem deck lid on eBay for reasonably less than they are starting to go for-still nowhere near prices a decade ago on these parts. The passengers side aero side skirt from a dismantler (inspect condition thoroughly with all these parts) I passed on more than a few front bumpers, side skirts and one beat up deck lid-due to their poor condition. The only part I had to source new through Porsche was the drivers side, side skirt. They do come prepped primed ready for paint and with hardware. Huge issue trying to find the drivers side skirt mk1 style used for me.
Had everything painted, then I installed. It was a breeze using oem parts. My best advice is to look on rennlist, places like LA dismantler, Porsche parts global (aka global restore), 6speedonline, and check eBay. It will take some patience, and there will be a few misc. parts for the side skirts you’ll need for install. I have a small parts list saved via email (There are small clips/screw locking syle supports for the underside of skirts, then you’ll want to source a heavy duty 3m tape.) If you end up sourcing skirts and other items, send me a pm and I can send the misc parts list over so you can prepare.
Option 2 of course is sourcing everything brand new through most Porsche dealers for extremely elevated cost$$
Option 3- is aftermarket I personally didn’t feel comfortable running a frp front bumper side skirts etc.) oem fitment/look is the way to go in my opinion.

My once upon a time 1999 996 Factory Aero kit car. It was a Porsche Exclusive car with many special ordered options including LSD, black metallic paint, sport seats, litronics and many other options. I miss this car, I hope it is still in the shape it deserves.

I just got this done, finally..... Didn't use the 3m sticky tape it came with, my body shop didn't trust it so it is glued forever They did great work. The body kit is from Better Bodies Motorsports in San Diego, the shop that did paint and install and PPF front hood and bumper is Vital Energy Motorsports in Burien, WA. My car was the most inexpensive car they were working on, lol. All high end Ferrari, Lambos, Mercedees, etc.... Owner is Lynx and is amazing to work with if you are in the Seattle area, it's worth a stop by just to look. They do tons of cool stuff.
*I know the tail pipes don't match yet. I am deciding whether I like it sticking out a little or flush. I think I will go with the "sticking out" so it's flush with the rear diffuser.
