I saw this one and went for a drive. Very clean in and out, surprising and impressive for this age and miles.
seems like the engine blew up (IMS?) at around 135k miles. Seller/research says motor and trans were both replaced with used units. LN fix on IMS. Drives and shifts very smooth.
thoughts?
Not a fan of the salvage title or tip trans. I’d pay more for a clean title car with manual.
99 Carrera, 135k miles for $22k. Dealer states no records beyond (fairly clean) carfax. Safe to assume it may need IMS and/or clutch soon?
Safe to assume it may need "lots of stuff". Sorry, but dealers like this scare the hell out of me. Friend of mine, once retired, worked at one of these. They get cars from anywhere, do the minimum to get check engine lights off and achieve a sticker, then sell. Not saying this particular dealer is, like I described, but many that market on CL are. Get a PPI and do your research. GL.

There's a dealer like that near here who likes to trade in European cars. I looked at a 128i there which had to be the worst car I have ever seen on a dealer's lot. They made a sow's ear out of a sow's ear.

I like the color and it looks like a decent driver. Is it my old eyes, or does it look like there may be some mold issues in the interior?
