I'm always fascinated in the variables of when an insurance company "calls it" on a car like this. I've got zero experience in this arena, but if I was a buyer, I'd think I'd want a totaled due to hail damage rather than, lets say, slamming into a tree.

I need help with this: "Vehicle was declared total loss , car is still clean title , total loss means the owner was paid off by the insurance but the damage repair cost was not enough to make it salvage." Huh? The owner/insurance was paid out but what they (insurance company) paid in repair did not match that number?

I'm not expert either, but from everything I've read "total loss" is worse than a salvage title and everything in that sellers ad is BS. But total loss is not a title brand so it is possible it does have a clean title. Not sure if you can get insurance is the issue.

https://aeofmiami.com/blog/the-diffe...ly%20destroyed.

"A total loss is not a title brand. It simply refers to a vehicle that is damaged beyond repair and deemed unsafe to drive. Aside from being recycled, a total loss vehicle is completely unusable. Typically, a total loss vehicle is either sold for parts or used as scrap metal."

I don't see how hail damage could cause an insurance company to deem a car unsafe to drive.

And yeah it seems like he wrote the ad in 30 seconds or English is his 3rd or 4th language.

guys if you want a show quality car where no expense has been considered to make it pristine this is it. This is my friend and fellow Puerto Rican. This guy is as picky as it comes regarding his vehicles. I have posted how much time we have spent on his 993 and it is incredible. This guy spent over $1200 dry ice cleaning the underside on this 996. on one of the 4 days that we where at my mechanics working on his New to him 993, I was telling him about my deceased father, and when I was telling my dad about fixing a minor issue on my twin turbo HPA R32 my dad would say, “ah don’t spend the money, you cant see that from the airplane “. My friend is the complete opposite of that. I could have bought this car, I had first shot, I just never liked red. If you want a pristine low mileage 996.2 C2 and you love this color combo this is it you will never see a better car than this one. They don’t make them anymore. Sorry, I got the soul headers that were previously on this car. You can always order some if you want.

Custom ceramic coat. Paint is flawless, i always told him to enter it in the concourse de elegance shows, there was always something else he wanted to get done, this Is the definition of “OCD about a Car”.

yeah I could see it needed some love. Still, given the market, the color and the asking price, if I were in the market and in the Seattle area I’d be taking a look.

If it was hail damage it could be a good buy. I've seen hail damage at auctions where cars look mint other than all the dents lol. If you can do that kinda thing yourself its probably a good buy. Its not going to be structurally damaged.

Default 14k salvage 996

https://chico.craigslist.org/cto/d/o...442364774.html

I saw this one and went for a drive. Very clean in and out, surprising and impressive for this age and miles.

seems like the engine blew up (IMS?) at around 135k miles. Seller/research says motor and trans were both replaced with used units. LN fix on IMS. Drives and shifts very smooth.

thoughts?
