Yep, I'm with Doc and the Cap'n here. Being a weird mom-and-pop type of shop doesn't preclude a car from being a good one, and the beauty is that the price is always lower than you'll find at the fancy places.

Best vehicle I ever bought was my LR3 years ago from an iffy-looking dealership. Hashed out a very fair deal in about 15 minutes with the Hispanic owner despite a pretty large language barrier. The car was pristine, everything worked, drove perfect, stack of Land Rover receipts in the glovebox, and still had the transponder for the former owner's gated community on the windshield. Despite the LR reputation, it hasn't cost me anything but maintenance in the five years I've had it. Recently handed it down to my 16-year-old daughter--she loves it, and I'm comfortable that she's in a heavy, safe car.

Worst vehicle I ever bought was a BMW X5 M-sport from a snooty Audi dealership in the Twin Cities. The dealership staff was pretentious, the car was insanely unreliable, and I found out later that it was sold at auction and branded with 'frame/unibody damage' and it was a bitch to get rid of.

* The wrap looks nice from a distance, but I'd never buy a wrapped car for fear of what it looked like underneath. Plus, it always looks ghetto under the hoods, door jambs, etc.
* The later model wheels look nice, but the spacers and poor fitment are a turnoff, and I question the likelihood of them just being cheap reps.
* Aftermarket stereo seems nice but now you know someone's been monkeying with the electrical system.
* Cheesy Turbo badges indicate cheesy owner.
* No PPIs, no checks? No thanks.

I do like looking at interesting stuff like this, though, so thanks for posting.

Agreed - my 996 came from a small used car dealership that specializes in (mostly) high-end older stuff. Great to work with, had no problem with me having a PPI done, and then they worked very hard to pass through some really good parts discounts to me after we agreed on a price. They were very good to work with and probably saved me $2,000 after I bought the car in work I had done and parts that I purchased.

I saw that one pop up. I wonder if it's a cracked head or just an AOS...

Not Craigslist or a barn find, but. . .

Was at an independent shop I use for the AE's annual State Inspection. They had a really nice, to my eye, 2004 4S on the showroom. I did not discuss the car with them so I don't have any details.

No idea if the asking price of $37k is good, bad, or indifferent. But if you are looking, it is worth a call.

What a beautiful unit!! The natural leather (only exists on brown and grey) is a rare option.

Beautiful. My Turbo is Lapis Blue with Savannah interior and I wish it had Natural brown.

That seems like a good price depending on condition and how much work it needs.

Really like that color combo. It does not mention the hardtop - I thought that all ‘99’s came with the hardtop?

They do, somehow the owners seem to "forget" to include them in the sale, then ask 1.5k for them a year or so later...lol
