Give me your opinions...Tried talking him down but he won't budge (yet). He thinks the LN dual row replacement gives the car an added value even though it has timed out.

Porphil, thanks for the kind words. I do disagree with you though about saying this should be a garage queen, like any other Porsche it should be driven and enjoyed. Actually, I was surprised myself about how fun it was to drive. Perhaps it's the combination of the Gundo hacked exhaust and the slightly more aggressive suspension combined with the rebuilt engine/transmission. My most recent daily drives have been a GT4 and a 997 GT3 so I think that speaks highly of the 996, the most under-rated Porsche on the market.
I don't want to violate any forum rules by starting an unofficial auction but I would appreciate feedback from the community about this car's value on the market. I do think it's quite a bit more than 15k. I'll try to find some time to add more detail on the car / build later.

The exterior is fabulous! I think the carbon interior stuff will hold it back a bit, in addition to being a C4. Mostly, however, I think pricing will hinge on the engine rebuild details: who, what, why, when, etc.

- the car has a high amount of miles. You can still find mk1 cars under 75,000 all day long.
- lots of non-OEM add-ons - wheels, radio, exhausts, rear tail-lights, etc. (doesn't help value)
- car has LN retrofit at 66,842. But since it now has 121,000 miles, it's way overdue for another IMS service. That's over 54,000 miles on the LN bearing!
- seller's notes: "Fuel pump hoses need to be zip tied away from the lever (pump works, lever gets caught on the hose and will not show fuel on gauge past half, below half fuel the gauge works fine) ... and "Needs new instrument cluster bulb for right side" ***If he knows what is wrong, why not fix it? Bad bad!***
- has the Porsche exclusive Leather Option, but if you look closely, the leather is damaged above the gauge cluster. Ugh!
- Seller mentions rock chips in the paint and road rash, but you CAN'T see it from the pictures. Why? ANSWER - because the pictures were taken MUCH earlier. Notice odometer reading of 111,115. The car has been driven 10,000 miles since these pictures were taken.

I agree except for the 17K, more like $15K. And why would he not fix the 2 easy issues stated?

Engine and transmission for sale. It says IMS has been replaced already.

Sounds like the ad is legit. Shame the guy was having it serviced and the mechanic wrecked it during the test drive. How many have we heard of something like this happening? Apparently, he took the insurance money and bought it back in hopes to make a little profit? Not uncommon.
Anyway, that's still not a bad deal for a M96 and transmission.

Gosh, that is a beautiful car. I have always liked the Black/Tan over the Black/Black or Black/Grey (what I have).
