God lord! I don't participate in this thread for awhile and it goes to pot!
WTF is the problem here? The thread is for posting up cars for sale so the group can chime in with their thoughts on it.
KC posted an ad, disclosed his relationship to the car, and gave his honest thoughts about its condition. So what the hell is the problem here?
You don't like the car or price? That's fine, this is the place to point out what you see to justify that. Getting on KC's case for the text of an ad he didn't write (and you wouldn't know was incomplete without his assessment) is just silly.
Personally given what KC has told us (and anyone that thinks he would knowingly try to screw someone over is seriously barking up the wrong tree), $10k indeed seems like a fair starting point.
More over, to the "I wanna know everything before I commit!". Pure BS. It's a used car with a ton of miles on it, you'll never know it all. And anyone that expects a $10k 996 to NOT have significant issues is lying to themselves regardless of what is and isn't in the ad.

I was being a little snarky - sorry. I had an ad up for my 99 AeroSport a while back for $21,500 and declined a few low-ball offers. Now I've put in the LN bearing, clutch, release bearing, and new front trans mounts and I was going to ask $24k for it, but I think competing with all the $14k cars out there is kind of wasting time.
And just so I don't anger the 'CL finds' thread gods I give you this(well, not giving it to you - as they say):

No affiliation, no ticking, no interest.

I avoided driving doc's car because I didn't want to lowball him at 20k. I think his car is easily worth what he is asking given options and condition. It's option list is incredible.
The wheels on my car were installed by PO, not the one I bought it from. I'm not sure I love them. I think the rear offset is a little off and they stick too far out for hard driving.
I've owned the car since the end of March and put about 1,000 miles on it. They only issue so far is the sunroof switch is not sitting in it's housing correctly. I'm going to have to take it apart and fix a busted tab or switch plate or something of that nature. I have the original dual row IMSB in my box of spares which didn't need replacement but was replaced anyway with an LN engineering bearing 10k miles ago. I don't have all documentation on this car from day one, but the PO is a standup guy. I found the car on PCA classifieds.
I know I underpaid for my car based on what similar cars have brought lately, and I'm happy with that. If I want to get really nitpicky my car has one door ding that is quite noticeable and has some interior scuffing on the black plastic around the door sills and other places. Outside of that it's almost perfect. Now for a car with 84k on the clock it looks impeccable. In my experience German car interiors just hold up way better than the domestic competition and with attention to detail can last well over 200k without major problems. A domestic car interior is total trash at 100k.

This one is an interesting one in my area. I'm not in the market but some of you might be.
5k miles on engine rebuild. Looks HEAVILY optioned from the pics. Rare?
Cheers,
Debo sends.

I think that Milllenium Edition in Texas has been posted before. It's a good price IF that expensive engine rebuild was any good ... for a car with one of Jake's engines it would be a steal.

And is that a crack in the top (middle-ish) of the tail light?

This is the one I referred to a few posts back. I received all the invoices of the work preformed yesterday if anyone is serious it looks to be a good car (price is always negotiable).
I can't pull the trigger just yet.

The detailed story on this car is in the Millennium Edition registry thread. Its a heartwarming story to say the least.
Wheels were painted due to chrome wheels being highly prone to chipping exposing red-colored primer underneath. Most millenniums' wheels are painted, mine included.
EDIT: Damn, everyone beat me to it! ;P

As much as I was not a fan of them when they were on the car, over a year later and I still think the car looks funny with out them...

Yes, that ME has been for sale for a while. The price has been adjusted to make it more tempting. Honestly at the current price, I would've driven it back in March. As I said earlier my ceiling was 20 at the time. It's a really unique car with desirable options.

Unique in the sense that there are/were 910 others just like it
Definitely looks/sounds like a good car. Too bad the ME is so generally under appreciated It's hard to find an equally optioned non-ME car for close to the price you can usually pick an ME up for.
Even new they were quite the good deal. As I recall, other than colors (our's is blk/blk), the option to do a sunroof delete, and the aerokit, the spec she did for her car was the same as the ME, but the ME we were offered was almost 10k less (so about 3k off if she didn't get the AK). Other than the MEs, I've yet to see another 996 spec'd so well. Definitely nice cars.

A few ticks in the boxes missing (IMS?) but otherwise looks good.
