Default Engine bay light

If I unplug the engine bay lightbulb, does that then also disconnect the engine bay fan?

If you unplug it at the light fixture end, no, you won't affect the power to the fan. The fan power is split from the light power not far from the end of the light connector. If you unplug the other end, within the passengers fender, both fan and light will be without power.

Thanks

I like to open the lid after a spirited or long drive to help disipate the heat some. Its hot enough here in Florida. Its a habit i got into with my 951. But that light will drain the batt. Is there anything else on that will drain batt from engine lid being open??

Wait. What?

13 years and I've never noticed there was supposed to be a light in the engine bay? I don't go in there often, but still

Where would I look for it to be?

That light and the one in the frunk will go out after ~1 hour.

Replacing the bulb with LED is a way to reduce your concern about battery drain. LED draw considerably less power and have no appreciable heat output.

I just did that. Looks wicked when you pop the engine lid in the dark.

Same here. Replaced both the frunk, engine bay light and license plate lights with LED bulbs. Less current draw and looks very cool. Car turns off the lights after ~1 hour.

LED bulbs are a cheap, quick and easy mod that everybody should do. I saw ECS Tuning's ad for the entire set of bulbs for cabin, frunk and engine bay for about 50 bucks, so I thought "What the heck" and ordered them. Wow, what a difference.

Also you do realize the fan can go on if your engine is hot after you turn off the car, right? I don't think the current draw of 1 small bulb for an hour is gonna matter too much.

Does the fan still run if the engine lid is open?

Fan probably will not run if the temp stays down with the lid open. Where is the temp sensor?

That fan blows cooler air down past the plastic expansion tank.

Wonder what difference the effect of having the fan bringing the cooler air in past the tank displacing the trapped hot air out over the left side exhaust is vs hot air rising past the tank out through the open lid?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Living in AZ, I do raise the spoiler when parking in my hot garage when the temps are well over 100, but I think the engine would cool better just letting the fan run as intended. Not sure raising the spoiler helps much either.
