I tried to help -along with some others- by sharing that this is not the way the factory intended the engine bay temperature was to be controlled. You may do with that info as you please.

I replaced my trunk and engine compartment bulbs with 39mm festoon bulbs (torpedo type) from www.Superlumination.com a few years ago for the same reason as others have mentioned -- low power drain in the event I leave the trunk or engine lid open.
The trunk one is the most important one. I can't tell you how many times I burnt my head peaking under there. Just the cooler running temps of the led is worth it in this area. With that said, I plan on retrofitting an LED strip as the bulb itself isn't really that useful for when you really need it.
