Hi,
I have done some mods (200 cpi kats + sport mufflers + IPD) + dynos.
Check my post at https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...dyno-pics.html

Cheap HP increase? Doesn't exist. I installed the Fabspeed Performance Package (headers, 200cel cats, X-pipe, yada, yada, yada). I had planned to dyno it before and after the install, but that didn't work out. So, I have to rely on the dyno figures provided by Fabspeed.
Depends what you mean by "bang for the $$". It wasn't cheap by any means, but worth it to me.
Side benefit: Put the car on a hoist and you can use it as a shaving mirror.

I LOVE my 996 with an EvoMS V-flow intake and Fister style mufflers. Doesn't feel a damn bit faster but it's worth every penny for the sound. If you want power from your modifications, sell the NA and buy a turbo.

125HP wet shot of nitrous is all you need. Bottle in the frunk, run the lines to the intake. Total cost $500.
996 NA C2 with 125 shot will take stock 996 turbo. I need to get a video of my car running on the bottle. 0-100MPH takes under 10 seconds.

Did you really do that mod, Kalishnakov? I guess I missed your posts regarding that.
Only $500... hmmm..... maybe I need to do that too. Did you do a self-install? If so, was it easy?

I had the version of kit on my Acura for a long time. I installed it on the p-car as the experiment to see how car would behave. Seeing that people put turbo kits on 996 that raise the HP 100+, I figured I may as well try it.
I had the 75/100/125/150 jets for the kit. It was un-tuned on the Acura, never blew it.
On P-car install was similar to every other car, except backwards. Routing the lines from the bottle and tapping the fuel line and fitting it all takes time and was not pretty, but functional.
I did not do the tune, on the assumption that if on almost equally powerful motor of similar size nothing blew, Porsche motor would not melt. I regret not recording the test runs. I was rather scared that instead of great triumph, it would end in massive failure. 125 jet was the most I had ***** to run. With 125 shot car felt like a AMG V8, I activated the shot at 3k RPM WOT...a lot of torque, a lot of noise, and great acceleration.
DISCLAIMER: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS MODIFICATION ON YOUR CAR, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU **** UP AND BLOW UP YOUR MOTOR. IF YOU ATTEMPT THIS ON YOUR CAR, THIS WILL MOST LIKELY HAPPEN. EDUCATE YOURSELF ON NITROUS KITS FIRST, AND HAVE PROFESSIONAL INSTALL A KIT IF YOU ARE A NEWBIE TO THE SUBJECT OF N20. NEW POSTERS, TAKE GREAT CARE AND UNDERSTAND HOW TO PROPERLY USE THE N20 SYSTEM AND UNDER WHICH CONDITION YOU SHOULD ACTIVATE THE SHOT. USE N20 ON YOUR CAR AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Just an update:
Installed the schnell intake, made no difference in performance only sound,
After reading many post on here & 6 speed, pulled the trigger on the ipd plenum, was very skeptical but now I'm a believer, my car is night & day difference, especially the mid range torque!!
Next step is the exhaust & Ecu tune, I already have sport mufflers,
Any suggestions? Cat bypass or sports 200cell cats?
Mine is an early 3.4 cable throttle so do not have the down stream o2 sensors
Are headers a waste from what I have read??

That depends on if you have emissions where you're at and wanna play by the books, you're an environmentalist, you want a more subdued sound, you wanna keep the powerband more lower, etc.
Don't expect to shoot flames with the cats though, lol.
As for headers, I've never seen an independent dyno test with just that but have seen some when paired with other bolt ons. If you're gonna go most of the way, I don't see "reputable" headers being a waste personally.
My $.02

Regarding the tune, you may want to check with your local shops as they will do the install/config. I have the Revo tune and FVD X-Pipe 200 Cat's (and FVD headers & cans). I would not recommend the Cat bypass (way too loud from my perspective).

I agree with the people who say to buy a turbo or cut weight. The engine in a n/a 911 is not a race engine that was built to withstand 600 HP and just detuned. Anytime you boost the gas and or air going in an engine, you cut into the lifespan of the internal parts. Engines are built to run a certain horsepower and boosting beyond that makes them wear out faster. Adding headers and better exhaust is a lot less stress than adding a supercharger. But you are still letting the engine breath better and operate at higher RPMs and torque. And that wears it out quicker.
For all of the thousands you can spend on sports exhausts or super chargers, you could just get rid of the heavy automatic seats and replace them with sport seats, get rid of the spare tire and tools, and replace the rims with some specialized light weight ones and probably get more of a performance upgrade. As the great founder of Lotus Colin Chapman once said, having more horsepower makes you faster on the straights, being lighter makes you faster everywhere.
