You are quite the keyboard warrior...

I am a proud 996 owner and have been for 9+ years now. My 996 still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. My comment was meant to be a tongue -in-cheek joke as it is well known that Seinfeld prefers the aircooled cars. I wouldn't go as far as saying JS is an aircooled snob but let's just say he ain't ridin' around in any 996. I do agree with you on one thing however; the constant 996 bashing that takes place here gets very old and is the main reason I seldom visit this 996 board anymore...

BTW, if you have a pic of Seinfeld in a 996 i'd love to see it. Unfortunately, you may have an easier time locating a pic of a real unicorn, or of that damn Sasquatch for that matter.
As I said, if it was meant sarcastically, you failed. Sadly, it was not hard to imagine the comment was not in jest.

Still, the point remains that YOU said you were sick of 996 bashing and there you go, something not perceived as a joke to add to the collection. FYI a 996 gt3 rs is still a 996, thats why it is in the name... a 996 GT2 is STILL a 996.

from an outside perspective, it sounded like you made a crap comment, wussed out when someone called you out, and then played it off as sarcasm.

Exactly, why would i own a 996c4 if acquiring a gt3 of similar shape wasn't in the cards for me? Will I keep this car for a very long time? Yea but then again I am not JS.

I have never “wussed out” on anything in my life and I stand by my lame attempt at a joke. If you and Ralph are too slow to comprehend my comments, that is not my problem. And no, it was not my delivery that was lacking. If you were unsure of my intent perhaps you should have kept quiet(directed more at Ralph) rather than go on a tirade and make yourself look foolish. I have been on RL for years and never once bashed the 996. In fact, I’m a long time owner of 996s and I still love the car. So, why would I choose an inconsequential thread such as this to start denigrating the 996? Anyone with half a brain(and any history on this subject, of both JS and myself) knows that my comments were making fun of the irony of posting a JS fan thread in the 996 section(when JS does not even like the 996 Cs), along with poking fun at the constant 996 bashing that takes place here.

Also, If you think any of the 996 GTX variants are the same as the Carrera then you may be far more uninformed than I am giving you credit for, which is not much. The GT cars are basically completely different cars(different engines, suspension systems, etc.) which is why they have their own subsection here on RL. Go drive a 996 GTX and you will quickly discover they are NOT the same as a run-of-the-mill Carrera. This is neither a cheap shot at 996 Carreras nor does it diminish their value in any way, it simply is the way things are. I guess by your way of thinking, my MKI 996 C2 is basically the same car as the MKI 996 GT3 RS that won the 24hrs of Daytona in 2003. Here is a hint: IT IS NOT and don’t let the fact that they both have 996 in their names fool you…I know it’s confusing but I’m confident you can understand it if you put in a little more effort.

If you opened your garage door, in behind which you had parked side by side, a 996 GT3RS and a 996 GT2, what are the chances that you would at one point kind of have a good long look at this situation infront of you and think to yourself: "something is missing here? Oh i know, a 996 Carrera!" We don't know exactly why Jerry does not own a C2, but my guess would be because he can afford better.. Just like, if we had his budget, how many would choose a 996 C2? One thing is for sure, he don't mind the headlights or the 996 interior that tells me all i need to know.

Yeah, get back to me when Seinfeld buys an M96 powered 996 Carrera, not an exclusive one-off hot rodded example with a Mezger engine.

I hope this car improves the image of the red-headed stepchild of the 911 family - the lowly M96 powered 996 - but I'm not holding my breath. BTW, I'm really not bashing the 996 as I still own a bone stock 2000 Carrera and it still puts a big smile on my face every time I drive the car.

Whatever dude...my comments were about Seinfeld and M96 powered Carreras - the subject of this forum (there are other forums for Mezger powered 996s). I'm not surprised at all that Seinfeld bought this car (or that he likes other 996 GT cars)...but the car is not a 996 Carrera any longer no matter how much those of us here like to think it is. The first thing you read in any article about the "Classic Club Coupe" is that it is NOT an M96 powered car.

I think it is cool that Seinfeld was the buyer of this one-off special car that started life as a 996 Carrera, but trying to insinuate that this purchase somehow shows that Seinfeld is a big fan of M96 powered 996s is probably wrong. I hope this car jump-starts some new popularity for the 996 (I've owned stock air-cooled (Porsche) 911s and I'm a long-time owner of a 996 C2 - and I actually prefer the 996 over air-cooled Porsche 911s that I have owned and driven) but I would not place bets on that happening...

?????? You are trashing the 996, repeatedly. I guess you are doing that because, I don't know, the internet thinks it's bad????

The internet is educated by the internet and doesn't know anything.

For those who have driven many 911's, including air cooled 911's and including water-cooled turbos, the base 996 is among the best 911's to drive of any of them. Look at 991 vs 996 threads, or Turbo vs 996, or 996 vs 993, or 964 vs 996 threads and see which model is mentioned more as being the most fun to drive. Stop caring what the internet thinks about the car. Many other 911 models, that the Internet is absolutely certain are way better than your 996, will not put as big a smile on your face as your 996. Why be an echo chamber for the uneducated internet?

A) Watch the video I just posted where two PCA guys say how they prefer driving the 996 over other models.

B) Watch the same video, and hear the quote from Jerry, "how people haven't all realized how cool the 996 is".
