Default Seinfeld the Porsche lover AMA

There is a great AMA with Jerry Seinfeld (a Porsche addict) here. Pretty funny and he talks about cars a bit.

Yeah, Seinfeld is a genuine Porsche addict. However, I think Jerry would be mortified at even the thought of being caught dead in a 996(or a 997 for that matter), which is why I have to laugh at this link being posted in the 996 forum...

So... 996 owners are apparently lesser Porsche enthusiasts, unworthy of the true understanding or joy that comes with the ownership of the real, better Porsches (a list which may or may not include tractors).

This comment is exactly the sort of crap that has driven me away from regularly reading and commenting on Rennlist after years of active engagement. I guess I just don't understand the motivation of such a comment, or of such a commenter. Why say such a provocative, insulting thing? Do you hope to start a comment war? Do you wish to belittle or insult the OP? Perhaps you were not breast fed as a child...

If these are your sentiments, why even bother to spend time on this forum? I'm sure the Cute Puppy Hater forum would value your participation and insight. Perhaps you should spend your time there and leave this space to the rest of us to indulge our enthusiasm for our apparently semi-Porsches.

For the record, I have seen Jerry Seinfeld drive both the 996 and 997. Do you actually think such an ardent - and wealthy - enthusiast would just avoid the newest, fastest, and most technologically advanced 911s for over 10 years simply because of some perceived lack of purity that you apparently have knowledge of?

Of course it is possible that your comment was meant to be sarcastic, to lampoon all of the other idiotic comments of this sort that seem to pop up in thread after thread. Maybe you are simply pointing at the trolls under the bridge and making fun of them, rather than being a troll yourself. If so then I apologize for my mini-rant, but urge you to work on your writing skills as your intent was not achieved.

Let me now return to polishing my own '49 Gmund Coupe. I'm sure you enjoy yours as well.

Eh, less offended than just tired of all the negativity that gets thrown out in even the most benign of discussions. I was an early Rennlister and have benefitted tremendously from the site over the years. And yet most of the time it just annoys me now. Too many people just carelessly, or intentionally, throwing crap at strangers for no reason other than their own amusement.

And get off my lawn

Dude, relax...you may live longer. I think my feeble attempt at a joke went a bit over your head(apparently I should have included a in my comments for the less intelligent members here). Have you seen any of my MANY posts on here??? Apparently not as I have been a strong 996/watercooled advocate on this site for years. I do, however, appreciate the personal attacks. You are quite the keyboard warrior...

I am a proud 996 owner and have been for 9+ years now. My 996 still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. My comment was meant to be a tongue -in-cheek joke as it is well known that Seinfeld prefers the aircooled cars. I wouldn't go as far as saying JS is an aircooled snob but let's just say he ain't ridin' around in any 996. I do agree with you on one thing however; the constant 996 bashing that takes place here gets very old and is the main reason I seldom visit this 996 board anymore...

BTW, if you have a pic of Seinfeld in a 996 i'd love to see it. Unfortunately, you may have an easier time locating a pic of a real unicorn, or of that damn Sasquatch for that matter.

The DVD, "Jerry Seinfeld, Comedian" had a clip in the special features showing Seinfeld taking "the first 911 built in the year 2000" to a Porsche club meet.

There are those that you drive and those that you keep. If I had money like JS, I probably wouldn't have a plain vanilla 996 Carrera in my collection either. I'd probably sell all of them except the 959 and try to bribe Ralph Lauren into selling me his Mclaren GTR.
