Anybody have a good way to remove wheel caps from rims without damaging the rims.? I dont want to spend $40 on a wheel cap remover tool to replace old worn caps that i'll hopefully wont have to replace for another 10 years.

Take the rims off the car and knock the caps out with the handle of a scredriver. OR make two L shaped "hooks" out of wire coat hangers and pull them out (while the rims are on the car).

You don't even need to make two L-shaped hooks, and by no means do you need the special "tool". Straighten out the curved end of a metal coat hanger... bend small section of the end (about 1/4 inch) to about a 90-degree angle. Poke it into one of the two holes that are in the cap, and give a tug. It will pop right out.
Note: I do know that there are a number of configurations of the cap, so maybe all don't have the little holes. I think most do (certainly, the ones that use the "tool" do).

Coat hangar and wire cutters works great. Be sure that the bottom of the logo points directly at the valve stem, as per the official Porsche memorandum.

Thanks for the tip, Babylon... I knew I read something about the logo alignment somewhere, but couldn't recall the details.

++1 on the wheel removal and then pop the caps out from inside. I was at Autozone or Ace Hardware the other day and saw a plastic spatula kit in the tool section for removing dash trim and such. If not removing the wheels (easiest and best way) I would head that route so you don't scratch the wheel finish.
