Good luck with that. Do you even have the car still? And did you get the engine replaced and serviced by a Porsche dealer?

I'm with you buddy! With an added mark up over your numbers (+20%)for having replaced the dual row with the ceramic model! - say another 10%? LOL

How long till the follow-on class action suit for loss of value due to this situaton... a la Toyota/Lexus?

Wow, just caught the 25% reimbursement for used purchasers... PCNA su#$s!

I have an extended warranty thru September 2013... at that point, outside warranty with approx 10% chance of failure for 7 remaining months of coverage (over winter storage) with only 25% reimbursement rate from PCNA... what do the lawyers on here recommend? Seems like I may as well remove myself from the suit which will provide little to no benefit to me and wait for follow on class action to join for value degradation related to this issue, or other.

I'll just plan to do it myself over that winter downtime I guess... better buy my kit now from L&N before they jack up the price for us DIY'rs coming off the fence... ha!

I have read the suit and discovery. I am the original owner of a 2003 996 which I paid 92k for.

I am going to opt out and pursue my own lawsuit. I am a retired litigation attorney with time on my hands, so it will only cost me court filing fees and my time to go after Porsche.

I will put them through some legal hoops until I am satisfied with a fair settlement.

Wish me luck!

So did you suffer an engine failure directly attributed to the IMS which you can prove?

No, I am taking a different approach and strategy, diminished loss based on Ims data in the discovery, and the failure of Porsche to issue a recall on a well known defect.

There are numerous case law judgements that will support my case.

When I start using up their legal time at $500/hr, they may settle to avoid another class action suit.

We will see if this approach might work. It is possible that another law firm may seek another class suit, now that the Genie is out of the bottle.

Interesting... Please keep us posted.

One can attribute "diminished loss" based on the headlights instead and the failure of Porsche to not recognize the design flaw and not issue a mandatory recall thus lowering resale value over the 993 model before it.

So true. I had a 1995 993 that I traded-in for the 996, b/c I thought the 996 was much cooler. I think my old 993 is worth more than my 996 today.

I am totally disgusted with Porsche, having owned several 911s over the years, and the 996 is right up there with 1976 911S.

How would we keep track of your own law suit?

Wondering how is it going to work outside of the US?

My 986S is in the VIN range but hasn't failed; even if it did, I bought it private sale. How do I opt out of this class-action lawsuit so I can take Porsche to small claims court later?

Lol, I think this might be going down the wrong path if it hasn't already a couple pages ago.

996 has better rearview mirror in which you can see the 993.
