Default Need Help - Center Console lid hinge broke!

Any help on how to fix it would be very much appreciated. Prefer not to replace the entire OEM sliver console...LOL, Yes that would be the easy fix $$$$.

Thanks

Super easy DIY. I just fixed mine, total time was 45 min and four beers. Purchased kit from Pelican parts.

Thanks guys...do you need to remove the entire console for repair? Will the new repair kit have the spring effect like OEM?

I did mine also. I think there is a spring that comes in the kit. You don't have to remove the whole console, just the lid.

Very simple fix of a very common malady.

Thinking about fixing mine also. I kinda learned how to live with it though. Still has the nylon strap in the back. Only thing I use it for is my Garmin NAV.

I removed the console simply to get an idea of everything else attached. No need to remove it, but with it out you have a lot of room to work in a none cramped space.

Anyone have an issue with the latch not closing firmy? I have to push down firmly on my center console to get the latch to fully engage. Any info there would be helpful. (hijack completed)

To OP, I have ordered from suncoast numerous times -- their prices are low, service is great, and if there is any issue, they return it no questions asked.

Cheers,

DS

Question

About the 2 rivets, I placed the thicker part of the rivet to bind the U-bracket and the hinge but the question is, what do i do with the longer nail-looking part? Do I have to bend so that its not in the way to of the cover (arm rest). Please advise.

The manual says "Rivet the hinge plate and the U-bracket together with the supplied pop-rivets. (Figure 3, arrows D)
After riveting, ensure there is no free-play, and that the installation is solid."

My question is what is RIVETING? Hammering it in like a nail or bend it to look like a 'L'. I dont understand.

Ask in a few more threads. You are bound to trip over the answer if you go back to a few.
