Default Oil Pressure Gauge Pegged at 5

Normal after driving for quite some time in high heat or is this an indication that the sender failed and it defaults to 5?
I tried searching but couldn't find the definitive answer. It never used to behave this way. It was always 3 or so while at idle and at 5 when driving. Now it doesn't move at all.

My guess is the sender. Had similar issues that were solved by replacing the sender.

Yours probably reacted the same as mine before it went wrong. Cold start up on 5.. and goes lower as the engine warms up. On tick over when very warm, it goes below half way, until I rev and then it comes up again to about 3 when running at about 3000 revs. So Obviously something is wrong if it is stuck on 5 all the time. Sorry I can't help as I don't know enough about the workings of the oil pressure gauge. Hope you sort it out.

The sender is located on the right top of the engine behind the AC compressor. It can be reached from the side by taking the muffler out or by taking out the compressor leaving the hoses connected. Pretty easy DYI. It may be the wires are disconnected or dirty connections. I believe the gauge pegs when disconnected.

Do a search. You can change it from the bottom in about 15 minutes with a crows foot a long swivel extension and a ratchet. Or from the top with a shorter extension.

There are several DIY's and threads on this. The crowfoot wrench makes the job mush easier.

Anyone Know what size crows foot to use? I have no issues doing the labor myself. I was just wondering if my prognosis of a bad sender was right. Thanks for the input!

Kind of looks like it says 10m or 16m on fpb111's picture. I'm sure I'm wrong
I'm sure the do it yourself (diy) stuff on here would mention the size.

Would you like water and drinks while you wait for your meal hehehe
Search brah, it works wonders.

Yes it is a 19mm. I got mine from NAPA and was very suprised on how costly they are. $26... There are probably cheaper ones around.

I changed my oil pressure sender two days ago as it was reading high and also variably. I used a crow's foot but had to grind metal off the side the faces the oil pressure sender as it was too thick to fit in as standard.
