Default Carrera rear badge

'99 C2

Is there a different part # for the Carrera badge with the proper contour for the early, high mount location?

I while ago I had found a post that listed two p/n's for the badge, but indicated that they may be superseded to only one..the later one. For the life of me, i cannot find that post again.

My original rear Carrera badge was losing its grip, so I replaced it with a new one from Pelican. They list only one p/n for all 996 years, but the one supplied does not lay flat on the car at the high location. The top of the 'C' is raised slightly, i assume for mounting on the lower position and it does not stay attached to the car.

If my next post is looking for the measurements for the lower mount, you will know what path I took...

thanks all.

Here take your Pick http://www.suncoastparts.com/category/996emblem.html

I Personnaly would dump the "carrera" badge and go with a "911" or "996" badge insted on a C2

Hmm. I replaced the rear Carrera badge on my '99 C2 Cab about a year ago. I don't remember if I got it from Pelican, or from Bumperplugs.com, and I don't recall there being a choice, other than the color of the badge.

I removed the old, cracked badge and applied the new badge, and it fit perfectly, in exactly the same spot as the old badge. There was no issue with the badge not "laying flat". Perhaps you got a bad one?

Mine is mounted in the "high" location, just below the retractable spoiler.

thanks. I am thinking about the 911 or 996 badges, but i like the Carrera script...the wider badge seems to compliment the rear lines.

The one I received from Pelican had the backing sheet cut around the top of the 'C' to accommodate the raised portion, this led me to believe it was intentional. Pelican was good and offered a replacement so if it is identical to the last one, I may just place it lower.

High mount location? I've got a 99C2 - there seems to be only ONE location unless it changed after 2002. When I got my replacement part in, it would have fit as per the old one ok. I didn't detect a difference in the old script from the new script that I ordered from Pelicon.

Original OEM lid and script location

Here's the new part (below) in red after I built up a new engine cover and GT3 wing and painted the script, (matches car interior). They come black but are easy to paint and clear coat. Position is a little lower then OEM cover as the shape is slightly different on GT3 covers and I was matching it to the new shape..

Is it possible you have a damaged part as was suggested here? You can heat it up (gently) and then peal off the backing tape and apply it after while it's still warm. Just don't use too much heat!

I like the "carrera" logo as the 911 or 996 seems too small. Just my opinion

Hey,

My 04 defiantly has the logo mounted lower than that last pic...
Pretty sure they changed +02

try:
PN 996 559 237 06 - logo carrera rear lid upper
PN 996 559 237 09 - logo carrera rear lid lower

Cheers
Robert

Robert, just what I was looking for, thank you. The 'C's' contour on the lower one must be to conform to the little ridge a few inches above the bumper. Hopefully it is still available.

According to Porsche the mounting height of the rear logo is 50mm from lower edge.

have the correct, upper badge on the way from Suncoast...also sent an email to Pelican, who sold me the initial replacement, indicating that there are two separate parts depending on location. Surprised they were not on top of that.

thanks all, w
