I am using a Go Pro Hero, there are about "zero" adjustments for focus and zoom.

Passenger is my instructor, if I "loose" him AND go faster, I might come home on the back of a flatbed towtruck. Gonna keep him for now, thanks

You'll get better with future videos. I liked the music, looks like you had a blast. I'd stick with an instructor until you are ready to solo the track. Bummer about the glare, otherwise ...can't wait for your next showing.

Thanks Steve - yea I was bummed when I saw the vid... you should have heard the awesome motor sounds nothing but buzzing and clicks and snaps and pops... there was NO car sounds?

I didnt get a second shot at it because I left the little bugger filming and went for a couple rides... when I came back the disc was full of my car sitting there with no one in it I had no way to edit the vid and delete the long emptiness and rather than risk having nothing I decided to just keep what I had and try next time out

sucks still

Mount the camera up forward on the dash so you get a look on and over the trunk. Then the lighting problem will only be lens refracting bright sunlight into internal glares if so. I guess duct taping the camera to the hood is out of the question

Might want to do some testing to see what the audio problem is.

I can totally understand that, but you may be surprised. I've been running my cars - first the bone stock 996, and for the past couple of years the modded '84 911 - on track for about three years now and am ALWAYS faster after the instructor gets out. The reason for this is that I want to learn from the instructors, but I don't want to scare them, so I run at less than my maximum. Once the instructors are out of the car, I pick up the pace in a big way.

Maybe. Maybe not.

I've tracked the 996 about 1/2 a dozen times, but it's totally street stock. It's fast and easy to drive. However, my '84 Carrera - which has had suspension mods, weight removed, and R-compound tires - is significantly faster on a racetrack than the 996. And it's fun as hell! (well, I guess they both are, actually).

miss the 99' as it was more set up for track and yea... faster in the turns... but I have a pile of goddies building for the 86' - watch out!

I took a hot lap in "A" class in a GT# that was SMOKIN FAST and I took a couple things away from that session

1: no more bad mouthing Corvettes - the one in front of us was wicked fast and I mean WICKED FAST!
2: we were super fast out there and there was an old Carrera holding its own, though we passed it... it wasnt like we went by it like it was standing still....I was plesantly surprised
3: TIRES TIRES TIRES
4: dont expect to see me at work the Thursdays the track is open anymore
5: ask wife for an increased allowance

I was all over the back of a 997GT3 for about 1/2 of a 30 minute session in my '84 Carrera a few months back, and the guy driving was not about to let me by. He would just walk away from me on the two straightaways (which happened to be the only passing zones allowed), but I would be attached to his bumper in the braking zones and through all of the corners. It was irritating, actually, because he was holding me up for most of the lap.

Next session, he came out behind me (thankfully) and I never saw him again. Granted, he was obviously not getting the potential out of his car, but the point is also that these old 911's have plenty of pace in them with suspension mods, weight removed, good brakes and R-comp tires.

996 vs 89 911 street setups the 996 would win, Im not bashing the 911, I really like em...still miss my SC....but if you have a 911 setup for the track then things are a bit different....its ED ok I still love you...Enjoy the track I know I did.

Cant wait to put the 996 on one....but alas..no time or throw away cash at the moment.

Off to my thankless job......

On your setup menu, change your exposure setting from Cnt (centered) to SPt (spot). That will adjust the exposure to what is outside through the windows.

I litterally has NO settings, I just have to find the right spot to put it in which will mean making something or sticking it outside the car

The instructor has a helment. Have him lay on the roof holding the camera. Bike riders do worse with the speeds we do with only two wheels Sheeze knees dragging in turns faster than the car and heads a foot off the deck. The guys a either a whimp if he doesn't do you the favor or smart enough to know the video of him rolling down the road then getting run over will end up on the web here Be sure to spray wax all over him if he accepts. Gotta get a good polishing out of it and keep him slippery enough to make an exciting video. I'm sure his screams will drown out the snap crackle pops of the camera.

This doesn't mean I was one of the guys riding down Virginia hwys on top a tractor tralier rigs trailer while working for a moving company in high school summers in the early 70's hehehe ya should of been there.
