i cant believe it happened to me!!! UPDATE!!
well, last night coming home from work, minding my own business doing 40mph, i hear a loud rattle noise, by the time i lowered my radio, the car shut off. so i pulled over and started it again.. the engine was making a lot noise, so turned it off and towed home. in the middle of the night, i get a call from security stating that there is a huge puddle of oil under my car!!!
i am so pissed!! its an 02 C4s, 66k miles, all maintenance up to date... i dont why this would happen!! i feel like to going down to the dealership and choke someone!
i have owned countless air cooled porsches with no problems, the 996 is a big disappointment although it was growing on me..
i am assuming this is an IMS failure and will require a new engine!
please advice

I feel for ya, but the pain lessons when you get into action to repair. I ended up with a rebuilt eng and enjoy the car more and more as I drive it. Oh! and buy the way I did call PNA and complained like hell and that helped somewhat even if I was singing to the choir.

Well I'd hate if it happened to me but if it did. I'd look on the bright side and I'd get a new X51 engine and it would be covered under warranty again.

Sorry to hear that. If you did all the maintenance and repairs at an authorized porsche dealer (The Collection??) you "may" have some leverage with PNA at least picking some part of the repair... I feel your pain. I have a 2002 with 119,000 miles. I'm also in Miami if you need any help/moral support.
