Default Just ordered a set of the Sumitomo HTR Z III for the C4s...

Let's see if these are the cat's meow. I currently have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 2s and I was not looking forward to spending $1300 or so on a new set of tires and frankly, it's amazing that these came in at $650 including the $70 shipping charge from Tire Rack!

In reading, they're every bit as worthwhile as the more expensive tires like the Potenza S02 and Tire Rack has a decent overview of them w/ ratings. They seem to be just fine for daily driving and more. 2 lbs heavier than the michelins, but then again, no one is handing me a factory drive for the porsche cup at the end of my win to the office.

I'll find out and update. Right now, the cords are showing on my rears.

Count me in as well... getting a set to replace the worn out Michelin. Feedback so far has been great.

I'd love to hear some feedback when you have them. I've got about 6,000 on my PS2's (only one track day). They still look pretty good.

I'll be driving her a lot more probably starting late this month and based on history I'll probably be looking sometime in the summer.

I put mine on about 3 weeks ago... they are a much more quiet ride than the P-zero's I had on before. I used them on the track during the heavy rain DE last weekend, but since it was my first DE I don't have anything to compare against.

For normal road use, so far I really like them and you absolutely can't beat the value! Under $800 installed for a complete set of 18"!

Can anyone compare these to S-02As? I didn't see anyone comment on these in comparison. My rears are going to need replacing soon (front's are fine) so I was thinking of just getting more of the same.

give me a couple of weeks. FWIW, the michelin PS2s were better than S02A, which were better than Contisport Contact 2.

The Sumitomo will be my 5th set of tires (2 times, I got the S02A). I have 82K miles.

BTW, I LOVE your black painted wheels. I so want something like that but holding out for the GT3 wheels painted black. Although I want a gloss paint on the actual barrel with semi-gloss on the spokes.

Ok so I just installed these a few weeks ago and had them at the track as well. To boot, I used to have a set of II's and HATED them. Loudish and went greasy after two laps. Terrible tire and got rid of them fast.

The III's on the other hand thus far have been quite nice. Low noise, decent grip in the corners, and on a wet and cold track was pretty competent. Not sure on dry track with heat yet, but thus far am very encouraged. I went through two sets of rears in a year on the Continentals and at 700 for two, getting a comparable and perhaps even better tire that costs 700 for all 4? Not too bad. I may not win the DE Cup this year, but the F1 scouts stopped knocking on my door a long time ago

I look forward to hearing your report. The thread on 6speed was great because he described his experience over many thousands of miles. Be sure to check in periodically...

The wheels are actually painted semi-gloss. In that photo, I think the PO had them waxed up pretty good. I will hopefully get a chance to detail them soon and we'll see how they clean up. Personally, I'm lusting after a set of Champion Motorsport wheels. I guess I'll put that on my wish list along with the stereo upgrade...

good threads.... I need new rears (running Pirelli Pzero). The fronts are practically new. Should I get the Sumitomo HTR Z III or just get the Pirelli rears... Seems like they may be better than the Pzero. The Pzeros only last about 5K miles for me (with DE's) and the sumi's will prob last longer. Opinions?

There is also a couple of decent threads here about the 3s with IIRC nothing but positive feedback.

Quick Reply: Just ordered a set of the Sumitomo HTR Z III for the C4s...
