FWIW I waited until my fronts were mostly gone until pulling the trigger on an entirely new set from a cost-savings perspective. I would not mix and match.

not mix and matching.... I will get a full set of Sumi's, as for price they are just about the same price for 2 rear Pzero and 2front and rears of sumi's.

Ferdinand,

You drove my car after the brake job last summer. It had on sumi IIIs; 235 fronts and 295 rears. I would post your old fronts for sale in various car forums. I know E46 M3s can run the same sized tires as our fronts. Corvetts also but again its their front tires.

People pick them up if their fronts go flat or are looking for a better price. It took me almost 4 months to get rid of my conti fronts though. I ended up selling it on a bimmer forum dirt cheap...

I'm going to be the contrarian here and say that I see no problem with mixing and matching sets of tires. But at that price you might as well replace all 4.

+1

For "normal" street driving, it's not detrimental to mix and match tires. I see 2-3 tire brands on cars every day and they seem to get to point A to B just fine. I think it's exponentially more detrimental to see people driving on corded tires or underinflated tires.

If you plan on squeezing every drop of performance and fine tune to the way Porsche intended, then, yeah, replace all 4. At that level, it's diminishing returns.

I have these on a DD and haven't had any issues at all. Great tire for the money. Or even not for the money.

Sounds good... I think Im gonna go this route. I dont want to commit to 3 seasons of wearing down the Pirelli fronts as the rears just dont last at all....

How do these compare to the PS2? I'm going to need new rears after the first round of autocross schools this spring.

I'm this close to buying a set of these...noticed the 295's aren't XL-rated and wondering if any current owners find them to be a little soft or "squishy", since much of the weight is over the rears?

I don't intend on tracking these, road use only.

Perfect timing! I need to replace all 4 tires, currently using Conti's, and will be doing some research online for replacement. Thanks for the tip, will definitely look into the Sumi's as well. Probably would make a good choice tire for the unemployed!

odd, since I was wondering what the XL meant on the tire description. I'm not going to track these either, so it's nice to know that I can put money towards track tires/wheels. I'm sure it'll be ok.

I got IIs too - 2 weeks ago, it's been raining but I feel snug, so far so good
