New M96 motor in 997 Mk II
Check out this interesting article:

In it Porsche personnel claim the new motor is superior to the old GT1 based unit used in the GT3. They also claim the oiling system is superior to the dry sumped motor and no more RMS failures. Sounds pretty good.

I think 10 years to get it right is 10 years too long, personally, but I'm glad they are stepping up the specific output at last. I went through this exercise last year, of comparing 997 to 996 and just not feeling any real world improvement to acceleration. And I'm sure eventually I'll get over the ugly taillights!
I would love to see the same improvements to output and fitting a PDK to cayman S down the line, I think that would be very fun too.
BTW that simulator video is just awesome

I know it won't happen, but the new 3.8 and the other improvements in a Cayman would surely shut down Ferrari in GT2. Oh well...
