Looks like you guys are having a blast at CMP! Wish I could have made it.

Got to Albuquerque tonight on the drive home from Cali. Wife's Xterra will have done every mile of I-40 by this time Monday.

Drove from NC to CA in June when my wife started her thesis study in Yosemite. She finished her summer work last week and I flew out and helped drive back. Did have a good trip, but gotta say it was more fun driving out via Aspen and Lake Tahoe rather than just bombing down I 40 this week. I did take the token picture from the other end of I 40 though, and stopped by the Cadillac Ranch in Texas for my dose of Americana.

Driving out in the Xterra @ Tahoe

Other end of I 40

Nicely done Scott - I love the photos. I-40 isn't the most exciting place in the world, but there is some pretty cool stuff along the way.

My son and I made the trip accross country on I-40 when he finished college and was stationed out West at Luke AF base.......What amazed me was how the country's terrain changes from state to state....Must say New Mexico at sunset was the most memorable....

This was I-40 heading into Winslow, Arizona (on my first day of driving). I think pretty much any sunset in the west looks awesome.

Personally, I found, CA, AZ, NM and TX to be flat, brown and monotonous. It was so nice when I hit Oklahoma and half way through the state things started getting green again. I was pleasantly surprised by OK and Tennessee.

Notice the trend of flatness from CA, AZ, NM - the next three were taken in TN (approaching Memphis), TN on the way to Knoxville and then across the NC border.... I love greenery sooooo much.

As I said, it would be nice to do the drive with a partner and enjoy the ride and the detours... taking photos of the road became boring, although my favorite was the Route 66 marker in Needles, CA.

I remember that cellphone reception sucked for most places west of eastern OK... being without iPad service for a few days just blew big time. I don't know what people did before 3G service for iPad was invented.

Cool pics Wayne.

And I've gotta say, I will always love the look of the hood "dome" on the M3 from the front seat.

Thanks!

I have to agree, it is a nice looking view and that engine really roars.

I've only seen one M3 identical to mine in the area and the "hood hump" really makes it jump out of the crowd.

Hey guys,

I lost 1st, 3rd, 5th, & reverse on my shifter on the way to work today they went from super crisp to wet noodle instantly. Posted a full thread over on the 986 section.

Going to check the linkage at my transmission and the plastic bits at the shifter after work tonight. 2nd, 4th, & 6th still crisp and working fine.

What really gets me though, is that I regain 1st gear if I turn the car off & restart it.

Anyone else seen this before?
