Default Baby News and Question

Gents,

Good News!!

My wife is pregnant (our first) and I need to prepare the 996 for the arrival.

I have done a search and read quite a few threads on baby seats in our cars. However, I'd love to hear what seats you guys are using and why you like them.

Thanks in advance for the info!!

(Ben, don't tell me to go buy a minivan. It ain't happening. )

Congratulations Ray! That's great news. I do not have experience with the rear facing seats, but I use a Britax Roundabout forward facing model (with the base removed). For best results, remove the reart seat base and back, it will provide extra room (and beleive me, it will be appreciated).

Here is some details.

I can only give advice for a 5 year old and a booster seat. But since I am the law guy, the safest place for an infant in the rear center. But with our cars, there is only a hump. So your next to best option is to put your infant in the rear back right seat. That's about all you need to know for now. You may want to get one of the sun-shields for the window or get the windows tinted.
Never rule out the mini-van. My wife swore she would never get one and didn't do so until our daughter was 5 years old. Now she is regretting she didn't do it earlier. Honda Odyssey's are hard to beat.

And most important, congrats on the good news and hope all goes well. John L.....

Congrats. Babies are a breeze in the 996.

We used a Graco rear facing infant carrier, then switched to a Recaro Young Sport seat. We're about to do the process all over again in September. I'm hoping to move my toddler into the seat behind me.

...just remember that all the times that the kid is screaming and driving you nuts... especially in the middle of the night.

9 months is a long wait for the baby... and I waited until my (oldest) son was about 2 before putting him in a car seat in the rear of the 911. My little one has to wait about another year before I'll put him in.

There are lots of good recommendations of car seats that fit the rear well - I decided to get a booster seat (it uses the factory belts to retain the child) and then wait until he was big enough that the belt would cross his chest at the right place (and also wait until he understood that he can't try to wriggle out of the belt).

If you get the airbag deactivation switch, you can use a seat in the front seat. That will give you lots of room, but make it harder to take adult passengers.

That any help? Or just confuse you more?
