Default Porsche 911 vs BMW M6

Jag XK, BMW M6, Range Rover, 997

Range Rover is luxurious and all, but being a single guy, Ranger Rover doesn't just cut it for me. I need a fast sports car.

Having owned the 996 for all these years, 997 doesn't quite feel exciting as other similarly priced cars.

Test drove the BMW M6 the other day. Being 6'2", I always thought of getting a long body style car like the BMW 6 series or the Jag XK. Just today, I deleted XK from my list. 1/3 of the owners complained about many little problems. I can't afford frequent visits to dealers, I have better things to do with my time.

My review of M6: I can throw a few girls in the rear seats of an M6 (rear seats are bigger than our 911s) after partying from a night club, and still carry a couple of golf clubs in the trunk. M6 is not as charismatic as our 911s, but definitely more practical.

Anyone with similar dilemma?

Yep, I have that dilemma. Where can I find a few girls to throw in the back of the car and take them home. Not sure my wife would see it as a dilemma.....

I am thinking the wife would see it as time to get new locks on the house

Are you serious? Aston Martin Vantage, maybe a year or two preowned? How 'bout a Mazerati (sp?). Bimmers, even the nicer models are so...well.....common. You seem to be the kind of guy that wants to roll with extra style.

Last M6 I was in...I couldn't get a child in...how old are the girls you are throwing in? The 335ci has more back seat room than the 6, FYI.

Great suggesion. It is definitely within the price range. I have considered the baby Aston, but I can't drive those kind of exotic cars (more exotic than the Porsche Turbos) to the office or on a daily basis. Aston looks awesome, but I don't think it could a daily driver.

At one point, I wanted to own something real flashy like the Bentley, Aston, Ferrari, etc., the ultra super cars $170K+, but these type of cars, it's nice to look at, but it's gonna attract too much attention to be a DD. And I think I'd start to get worried about the car after I handed the valet my key at a club or at a restaurant.

So, M6 for my purpose will do a nice job as a DD and a car I can look good in wearing a suit. M6 can be a dd, and not attact too much attention. Don't wanna a 4 door sedan. If I can afford to have about 5 cars, all those exotics will definitely be in my garage ha ha.

Cheers

Ha ha both myself and the front passenger would need to pull up our seats, of course, to make room for the mid to late 20's leggy hotties. Our 996 can maybe take in one girl in the back seat after uncomfortably pulling our front seats.

Another time I picked up 2 chicks at a club with a buddy of mine. These girls were about 5'7". A valet pulled up my 996 and my buddy's Range Rover. Even though the girls were awed by the 996, both coudn't fit in the car even though I kept telling that they could. Another friend of theirs joined in, and they all got on the Range Rover. Bummer. Even though one girl wanted to hop in my 996, her group insisted that they stay together. You know how that goes.

My gf is 21 yrs old 5'7" 120lbs with a big rack and can fit in the back. I won't date a girl unless she can fit in the backseat! A "double date" works for me too: one girl in the front passenger seat and one girl in the back. No way any human could fit behind my seat, i'm 6'2".

Wow, she must be smoking. Congrats. You're talking about your 996, right?

This is the reason why I got the Porsche 911 over SL500 which have no backseats.

I think it's a perfectly fine looking car, but no better looking than the M5. I'm not sure why anyone would buy an M6 when the M5 seems to be the same car but with a usable rear seat, especially when the poster's biggest problem is apparently how to fit hordes of women in the car.

Speaking of the "women aspect" of these cars--they're much more attracted to my Merlot Mica Miata than my black 996. Men, OTOH, tend to think the Miata is a joke and drool over the 996. Go figure.

..okay, so what does that tell you about how much the average woman knows or cares about high end cars?

I mostly find old guys wanting to drool over my car... that or maybe it's just old age that makes them drool
