Er, but maybe you're not. You certainly like "acting all hard," to judge by your silly avatar.
See, I don't have that problem

that's funny, most people think that about Carreras too

I mean, they're all lumped in with the guy at the dealer who came in while I was checking out a new Cayman S, he asks if there are any Turbos, no, then he asks what they do have

the salesman points to a pair of cabs, both 997 one a CS one a C4S, in different colors and leather treatments, he says "I can't get that one because somebody in the office has that color, so I'll take this one"

he then proceeds to say this, verbatim:

-gesturing toward the rear-
"I've seen some of these on the highway and this seems to pop up, why does it do that?"

he put the car on his amex card

I died a little inside

it's pretty amazing how much i've been hit up about my avatar as if it's in any way inappropriate or whatever. but i put it up for that very reason to sniff out who would be insecure enough to point it out.

but yea i was being completely/utterly serious bud

I think it is a regional thing. When I lived in CT, 90% of Porsche owners waved. When I moved to San Francsico, that number dropped to 20-30%. Here in Utah, the number is closer to 10%. We have many 911s and Boxsters in Park City, UT (vacation home town) and very few people wave. Like CA, I think it is a status thing for most of them...

I can't win. When I drive the Boxster (according to some) I'm a poser or a girl. When drive the 996 (according to some) I'm not in a "real" 911.

Seems more than a little silly to me.

Try driving a 944 for a few years! If the 996 isn't a "real" Porsche, the 944 might as well be a Ford!

Hmmm.... I know some guys who can't get women to acknowledge them regardless of what kind of car either of them are driving.

Nupe! I'm sorry, do you need me to give you some love?

I have the same problems... buy a 911 and the only thing I can pick-up are hot guys. I wonder what I'm missing.

Hell yeah, I wave all the time in my 944. I think I have gotten 2 or 3 waves back in over a year. Never once from a woman or a Boxster.

As another poster hinted... they are probably wondering why the guy in the 'supra' or 'celica' is waving at them.

Thanks for the reply.
But there's no insecurity. Oh, and I didn't say it was inappropriate.

You just look silly.

it's a hat and a wife beater dude. the ladies love the guns.

so you put up a pic of yourself so we can play fair else u really need to consider not looking at pics of dudes and bringing attn to it on top of that.

i do have a tough time figuring out if a boxster is headed my way or a 911 carrera at times for the MK1s. rarely do boxster dudes ever say hi.
