911 greeting etiquette
When passing another 911 some folks wave, some folks flash their high beams. But what is the proper greeting etiquette when coming up directly behind another 911 or if you are in front of one?

I would think a wave would suffice.
Actually where I live, people who own Porsches are arrogant, jerk-offs who do not wave back. They buy a Porsche for the status, not for what it is.
I got waves all the time in my old 'vette and sportbikes.

I would like to think that owning a Porsche separates us from other cars on the road. So with that said, displaying our passion for owning such a great automobile to another Porsche owner on the road is a nice thing to do but not necessary. I will wave or high-beam another Porsche owner and in most cases (I say 2 out 3) I will get a response back. I am usually the initiator of the 'greeting' but I have also had a couple initiate first. Yes I see motorcyles (specifically HD owners) do this greeting as they go by each other, but they also do not greet all riders. I have also had other exotic car owners wave at me even some Corvette owners, and I will wave back to them (I do not initiate a greeting to most of these though).
So for me I will say hello to fellow Porsche drivers. If they do not wave back then I really do not care.

I totally wave at all the 911s and it's usually the older 911 guys who wave back since, I'm guessing, they appreciate the history of the car.
I used to be too cool for school and act all hard, but realizing now that there's good to being positive and friendly.

It's hit and miss here in PA.
Boxster owners never return a wave. I'll refrain from comment on that.
911 owners will 2 out of 3 times return a wave.

I noticed that too. It's the older guys who usually initiate or wave back, especially if they are driving a 964 or 930. Young guys are often caught off guard but will wave back on reflex. And don't even get me started on women. For some reason women of all ages driving any year of 911 don't even acknowledge me in my 911.

Seems to be pretty laid back, open, and friendly.
Maybe my perception is off. I did live for a long time in DAL.
Maybe they are not paying attention and do not see you wave.

I wave to every p car i see....sometimes they won't see me...no biggie. On the others....most wave or flash back. I try to get the attention of boxsters, 944's, all 911's, 356, 924, most anything. Although I will say that while I love Cayennes, I don't make the attempt...just strange.
I ran into this guy on the NY thruway in Rockland this morning....gorgeous gt3 i think? It's a 997....I came up on him and then next to him...got the wave in a second. Fantastic ride, anyone know who it is?
I don't know how to block a plate number, so if the owner sees this and is offended...I'm sorry...PM me and I'll take it down.
Best,
J
