Default X74 suspension pricing?

I asked my dealer for a quote on the X74 suspension package as I do my due diligence on selecting a suspension for my '99 C2. I asked them to find out about the spring rates on it as well.

I was quoted $1200 plus shipping from Germany from the dealer. Is this in the ballpark for what others have paid?

Thanks,

Bill P.

That sounds like a great price. Carnewal is currently asking $2,727.93 for the full kit that includes swaybars. Which dealer quoted that price??? I may have to jump on the bandwagon at that price.

That really sounds fishy because I have not seen the price for the 'entire' kit anywhere else for under $2,000. Mine from Carnewal while it was on sale came to $2,300 with shipping and that was a good deal at the time (1 month ago).

If you can get it for basically half that amount and it is a new complete kit then ask them how many kits they have.

That sounds more like dealer list for the ROW M030 package.

I thought it sounded low. Maybe the dealer was reading Euro and not USD. Stevens Creek Porsche in San Jose, Ca gave me the quote. I asked specifically for the X74, not the M030. I also asked if this is the kit with the swaybars and from Europe. He said yes. I'll need to have him fax me over a quote. The Euro conversion makes the Carnewal price pretty ugly. I can get the PSS9's for alot less than that. And I don't need the AR bars.

At least the dealer will be getting back to m with the spring rates early next week.

The problem is that you need to give the dealer a PART NUMBER rather than a description. Most of these parts guys are idiots. Since the X74 is not made for the 99 nor rec'd (but can be fit) there is NO WAY for him to pull up that kit when using your car as the model in the computer.

Give them this part number: 000-044-500-35
It is for the 02+ C2 Coupe.

Ask him the part number for the quote he gave you. My guess is that it is the same part number sequence I gave you above but it ended in either -07, -15, -17, or -19 which is the M030 kits (4 kits b/c you have to specify tranny (6sp/Tip) and body style (Coupe/CAB) as well). There are 8 total kits (4 for C2 and 4 for C4).

1K-$1.5K is the going rate for the M030 kit. The X73/74 kits are twice that at $2.5K-$3K depending on where you shop.

i just priced X-74 kit for my 02 C2 coupe from Sunset last week- they didn't have kit price but had to price each item individually- springs,,shocks, bars, mounts, etc- when price got well beyond $2k with many items still to be quoted i stopped & thanked them.
I called Gert Carnewal & ordered X-74 s at sale price of 1595 euro- he gave me sale price even though sale is over & its shown on his site as back to 1995- At about $2200 seemed to be best deal going since it included shipping & i'm in Hawaii.

I agree with this. If you get your quote faxed over from the dealer, make sure they include the part numbers that they are quoting. Then, post here the part numbers and someone here can verify that they are correct.

Don't forget to add shipping and the lovely import duty that FedEx gladly pays for you and then collects form you PLUS a service fee. At the end of the day, even when buying from Gert the Euro is killing the dollar and the savings aren't there as they use to be.

I'd actually be surprised if a dealer parts guy knew what the X74 is! Also, I didn't thinkthe X74 kit was available through US dealers?

I just got off the phone with the dealer. I talked with a guy who has sold an X74 recently. Thanks to Dell for the p/n. Dealer says he can order for $2450 plus tax...So probably around $2700 to $2800 for the kit from my dealer. 2 to 4 week leadtime. He says he sees (3) in stock in Germany.

They still don't know what the spring rates are. Anyone have a guess?

And is there anyone out there that has used the H&R coilovers?

Thanks,

Bill P.

A big for going with Gert, and glad to hear he gave you the sale price. I ordered mine when it was on sale. After the conversion it came out to being just over $2,300 (yep the dollar is in the crapper right now everywhere). Then I had to fill out some paperwork with FedEx for them to release the items for import duties (this delayed delivery by a couple of days). They billed me for an additional $109 (as per Dell they paid it and then billed me). So 996cats you can get it cheaper and quicker from Gert if he gives you the sale price right now.

You can always check out my write-up of the install:

https://rennlist.com/forums/996-forum/368401-x74-suspension-installed-on-my-1999-c2.html

I know this kit is more than the PSS9's, but what is nice is that it is a Porsche kit and comes completely assembled. So for those of us that do not want to mess with anything too technical, it is a great setup, just install and enjoy

I have never heard anyone say anything negative about the kit which is to be expected.
