Default Gas gauge show empty after battery change

Battery died this morning, after 8 years? Maybe... at least it was a original Porsche battery.

After a new battery she started right up, but now the gas gauge is showing empty. Normal?

On a C4 you will need to fill the tank - disconnect the battery again (then re-connect it) - then it will re-calibrate.
I think there is a warning in the Owner's Manual about disconnecting the battery with low fuel.

Loren,

I will give that a try today. Also I noticed that the speedometer is showing km now instead of mile. How do I switch that back to miles instead?

TIA

Switching back to miles can be done from the OBC, just use the stalk and cycle through the choices you'll see.

Also, if your gas guage doesn't reset, note that there was a recall on C4 cars about the gas gauge only showing 3/4 full after reset, so you might need to bring it to Porsche if that happens.

From the manual:

"With ignition on, hold adjustment button B turned to the left for about five seconds."

Button B is to the upper right of the tach.

Just filled up gas and the gauge is reading properly, all without disconnecting the battery.

I think I read somewhere that the 2nd half of the tank is mesaured using calculation not with the tank float? Or something like that.

Thanks
