Update:

I decided to pass on car #1. I loved the looks of the car with those wheels and was told by Gant the exhaust sounded incredible but just one too many red flags from fellow Rennlisters. Thanks guys. You probably saved me alot of time and frustration.

Well, I have another question I would like to hear some opinions on.

Which car would you prefer if price where EQUAL:

#1
03 C4S
52,000 miles
CPO till 2010
all records(clean carfax)
some track time
private sale

#2 (hypothetical car)
02 C4S
30-40,000 miles
no warranty
all records(clean carfax)
dealer sale

I am not crazy about the 50,000 plus miles. So what do you think?????

You already know my choice. #1 hands down. The miles don't bother me and the warranty is a HUGE plus.

Bouncing of the rev-limiter is fine (type 1) but you need to check the Type 2 (over-revs).

I'd go with 1 also. The miles don't matter. The owner should be able to give you all the records you'll need to make you happy that the car has been well maintained - that's the main thing.

miles do matter a BIG DEAL as it has a huge influence on price so i'd wait it out some more for the right car, right price. neither seem like an option to me.

you'll always be driving that 50K+ mile '03 and not want to drive it cuz you're always looking at the mileage even if it's running great.

be patient for a bit longer, save up some more if u want and get one with lower miles, and w/ cpo - avoid regretting for settling.

what in the world kind of thinking is that? I have NEVER looked at my odometer thinking....DAMN, I better stop driving and adding miles. That is some of the stupiest logic I have ever heard. While he is at it, he might as well find a way to make time stand still so the car doesn't age either.

Yeah, she is. And I think I'm going to keep her. The car was held at a dealer, see my other post, for 4 weeks and when I finally picked it up and drove home it reminded me how awesome the car is.

milage is something, but not everything.
and we are not talking about ferrari here. we buy p-car to drive it, rain or snow.
last year when i shopping, i saw a 20KM car, but its condition is MUCH worse than the one i brought (39KM at the time). since then i put 8KM on it, i feel NO diff. performence wise/wear&tear-wise 1 year ago when i brought it.
