Default Where to find 285-295/25 18" tires?

Hey again guys,

Where do I find a 285/25 18" or 295/25 18" tire?

I know I've seen some people ride around on theese suckers but I can't place where and when..

I've searched around on google and almost every major tiremanufacturer site and come up with zip, nada, nothing

Anyone knows and want to help a fellow P-Car owner?

Thanks in advance!

Btw, I keep hearing about theis "Porsche approved tires" thingy, it is supposed to be marked with a "N", why is that so important? How important really? And what's it for?

25 profile is really low. I'd stick to 285/30 18".

Do explain why you need 25 profile tires. Tirerack doesn't even list any tires in 285/25 18" or 295/25 18".

Here is a link to TireRack that explains the Porsche "N" rating.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=26

BTW, I wouldn't go with 285/25 or 295/25 tires. Quite frankly, IMO, you are threating the "symptom" rather than the "cause" of your tire rubbing issue.

I missed your first thread. I agree with the others. The offset on those rear wheels are way off. Get a new pair of rear wheels.

You are missing the point on this one! And obviously didn't listen to the advice I gave you (as did others). Running with rubber like you are wanting is WAY out of spec.

You had 295/35/18 on the rim and so you can basically put a "square peg into a round hole" with your quest to find a 295/25/18. This will create a variance between the two sizes of almost 9%!!!! Explain that one to your 4WD system

As kilrgt said in your other thread. Bite the bullet and buy the CORRECT size wheel so you don't have this problem. You live and you learn....

I could be wrong, but I don't think anybody is running 285/25 or 295/25 tires on a late model Porsche. The diameter is too small and, more importantly, the load rating will be WAY off. I skimmed through your other post, and I would say your wheels are the wrong offset. On top of that, you're currently running 295/35s which is too tall the other direction. Just because an aftermarket manufacturer recommends something doesn't mean it fits properly. I would seriously look at changing the rear wheels. BTW, those are not good sizes for a 986 Boxster either. Maybe 987 or 997? Good luck...

Wrong according to me and you? Yes! According to TechArt who doesn't even answer my emails? No!

As I said, I'm running 295/30s right now, just cheking for shorter tires that's all..

Thanks!

LVDell,

You must missed I'm running 30's in the rear, the reason I asked is just so I know that option exists, we'll see once I decided what to do, why is everybody busting me legs about this, I just asked a simple question that's all

What do you think I should run up front if I go with a 285/30 in the rear?

Thanks!

Slowpoke - Actually, we are not busting your legs, or your ***** (sorry, but it seemed like a little levity was needed here ).

Most everyone on the Forum is ready and willing to help and offer advice, and many of these guys (and gals) are VERY knowledgeable about what "works" on P-cars. Also, please remember that many of us are very opinionated, and will share our opinions freely. Sometimes this causes a few “hot debates,” but no bones get broken. Some speak from experience and are coming from a "been there... done that" perspective and are simply trying to keep someone else from making the same, costly mistake that they may have made. Ultimately, “it’s all good” because we simply LOVE our Porsches.

Thump! <== (BTW, that was me jumping off of my soap box)

With 285/30 rears you can run 225/40 or 235/40 without a problem. The OEM sizes for my C2 is 225/40 and 285/30.

Last time I am entertaining this thread........

but to make a few points so slowpoke can understand the crux of the issue.

You DID state you were running 295/35 in the rear NOT 30's. Here is you exact quote form the first post you made in that thread:
From SLOWPOKE--> "I'm having some rubbing issues with my 295/35 ZR18 Michelin Pilot sports mounted on my rear TechArt 10,5" rims, I think the guy before me bought the wrong offset wheels or something.."

Further, you answered your own question BEFORE you even got a single response from us. Read the second half of that quote as well: FROM SLOWPOKE --> ".....I think the guy before me bought the wrong offset wheels or something.."

We are trying to help are you are not wanting it. If you want to FIX the solution properly then you need to get 2 new rear rim in the CORRECT offset. And by the way, there is no such thing as a
"girly" offset as you claim. Offset is a function of the wheel in relation to the hub and nothing an issue of gender.

..OR....

You can create your own "BAND-AID FIX" like you are trying to do by playing with tire sizes to get to an acceptable level of rubbing without regard for what is correct or what is needed by your 4WD system.

Best of luck to you......
