Trouble with cleanable filters such as the K&N is that filter oil finds its way onto MAF and will cause trouble. I personally would never use this type of filter as they pass way too much dust. This IS the caveat to a 'better' flowing filter.

If it flows better, it cant be filtering like OE paper filters. This is the trade-off.

So is the car faster or slower with the intake on? my guess is more air without a properly tuned chip would result in slower performance; don't let the neat sound of the air filter fool you.
