Default Need help identifying screw

In removing my airbox this past weekend, I found the foam inside rotted and the screws holding the cage holding the foam to be rusted. I've sourced the foam from another post here but am not sure what the screws are as they aren't listed on any of the online parts diagrams that I've found. It's clearly for use with plastics, but the only thing I've found close is a pozi screw. I'd like to know what it is so I can get something similar to replace the rusted ones. Thanks.

Just go to Ace Hardware and get some similar sized stainless steel screws. Never have that problem again.

Looks like a sheet metal screw. I ran into a similar issue when rearranging my radio. And like you, the parts diagrams had no mention of screws. I even had two dealerships look for me. Nothing.

As mentioned above, just find something similar from a hardware store.

It sounds like you've identified the screw but you just need help with the part #.
For future reference, it's always helpful in these types of threads to include something in the pic for a size reference. It makes it a lot easier for people to guess what the mystery bolt/screw is.

Yessir - stainless steel in the way to go - was very surprised to find they were so rusted in the first place. And apologies for not providing something for a scale relationship - especially since I found another part recently because of that scale reference..

JMHO, but I would never look for new screws/foam and put back that unneeded foam. The foam had deteriorated so much by the time I got the cars doubt it had been doing anything for a decade. And thats if it ever really did anything quantifiable to the naked ear...

Took it out of both my 996.1 & 996.2. Can't hear/feel/see any difference at all.

Plenty more important things to do/worry about on both my cars than totally unnecessary things.
A few threads about this on our forum, do a search if ya want...

Good point. I have to admit the Accu site seems to have just about any fastener you could think of. In looking at the nuts, I kept hearing Christopher Guest from Best in Show -- 'hex nut, barrel nut, cage nut, pipe nut...'
