Just catching up with this thread as I was a little busy over the weekend. In terms of some of the modifications:
- For putting a fitting near the crankcase I can make design modifications to attach a metallic barbed adapter; such as thickening the wall in this area and adding internal ribbing to beef it up. I am looking into it
- Extending the length of the upper tube is very easy to do, I'd have to check clearances
- Adding a port in the upper tube for a manometer. An alternate is to just order a spare plastic cap and put a port in it. The cap PN is listed on my website and can be purchased for as little as $15.

My suggestion is to get Rev2 designed and make one . Send to PT3 . He can install and provide pro quality feedback on any adjustments if needed . If he gives a thumbs up you are good to go .
PT3 sorry if I am overstepping protocol to volunteer your services . But you know the UAOS like nobody else , add to that your P car knowledge should = another great aftermarket solution for the 996 .
OP - I think your suggestion for buying an extra cap for those of us that have a manometer is valid . Spend 15-20 bucks and have a dedicated cap for testing . Others may disagree .

Adding the port shouldn't be a problem; I don't have a size for it right now though, this one I put in looks a little large, its for 3/8" hose ID.

That would be perfect....That is the exact size drain hose I use on the UAOS Track Drain, a 3/8" ID fuel and oil resistant rubber line....You could add that to all the lower pipes and just cap them if not used, or have separate items..
I'm happy to help anyone who is making an effort to improve on our already gem of an Automobile.

Hey porschetech3, wouldn't you want a slightly smaller port on the upper piece? Like the fitting you suggest for the oil cap. My manometer line is pretty small. Then you would not need to adapt, just a thought. This does look very interesting, as I have not installed my track drain yet and this would be perfect to both at the same time.
I can add the Track Drain Uniseal fitting to any of your existing lower pipes, no problem. But I think the cap location will slightly interfere with the UAOS diaphragm..
Extending the upper pipe 1.5" should clear the diaphragm ( but need to check to see if it interferes/clears the engine compartment cooling fan in the deck lid)...and the port for Manometer testing will add value to your product...
Diagram of possible improvements ( pending verification of fan clearance)..
EDIT :: I think the two piece pipe makes since, the upper portion can be removed for more clearance when dropping the engine...in the OEM design, the "accordion" section is flexible and can be moved out of the way( but is prone to cracking if not brand new). But in a ridged pipe, you would need to remove the upper section to gain clearance...

If you notice my test oil cap has precision holes/ports ( a .221 hole and a .110 hole) that are used with the Manometer to get blow-by figures in "Liters per Minute", to determine the ring seal as out-lined in this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...=engine+health My thoughts were to make a "Custom Tool" that had the precision ports in it and also the port for Manometer, but on second thought, just buying a spare $15 dollar oil cap and drill the holes like we are already doing on the OEM Cap would make better since than creating a "Custom Tool", and be less costly for owners.... ..
If you have high blow-by, it takes a better "AOS System" to control the air/oil separation, so in essence if you a great healthy engine with UAOS, you can even run a LOT of additional oil level for Track Work.., but if you have high blow-by, you will be restricted in the oil level you can run...

I originally wanted to do something " Custom " since we were creating a new product with a different cap, but like I said, on second thought it would be simpler, with less confusion, and less cost to just do like we did with the old OEM cap...( just drill and install a fitting and drill the precision metering holes in a compatible spare cap)..but it is really up to Chris to decide, and the owners to tell him what they would want...I am just giving suggestions....
Edit :: also I think you didn't understand why I wanted a bigger port than is needed for the Manometer, and the answer is, I was needing the bigger port to also include the metered precision holes for blow-by testing, because I feel blow-by testing is very critical on the m96 engines...( due to the inefficiency of the OEM AOS)..

Hey all, I have a couple of updates on this. One is the UAOS version of the product; I'm about to order production parts, one set is already spoken for (sold) and I'll have one more spare UAOS set. The upper tube is now lengthened out and the port has been added on the lower tube; the port area of the tube is beefed up with thicker material and ribs; then a thermal insert is formed into it (stainless steel). Finally the 3/8" barbed fitting is screwed into place and O-ring sealed; its very strong, far stronger than drilling a hole in the stock thin walled plastic using the stock Porsche tube.
In addition to the UAOS version, I have completed a new bracket for all the tube kits; the bracket was tricky to design due to the tolerance stack up on the various parts and the motor. It uses an unused M6 female thread, its made of the same material as the tubes so a very high strength PA12 polymer.
All kits will now include the bracket; due to increased costs for these items I will have to bump up the price of the kit a little. I'm still getting pricing information together. I'll attach some CAD screenshots of the UAOS and the final bracket, together with a prototype with the port and a prototype bracket which has been installed on my car.
I'll post back on here when I have everything wrapped up. thanks again.

I think you have listened to the feedback and have come up with solid updates . If everything fits as expected I think you have a great product . Well done 👍 . You said you will have one extra UAOS version how much will that sell for ?

Excellent; please keep us informed when everything is final, as my twenty-year-old fantastic plastic has a given life span. I think it is a real testament to the creative and ingenious attitudes of the people who want to improve weaknesses on this site.....
