I'm not very happy with DI40 0-40. Tried in in our 17 Macan GTS before changing my 991 over to it, and i have to say valve tapping is loud. Much louder than LiquMoly, Schaffers or Mobil One. Not sure I want to try it in cartera now.....

DI40 has worked well in my 996.2. My 3.6 seems to like it on the street and track. Engine seems to run quieter, especially during cold start-ups. I plan on trying DI50 next to see it's effects on oil pressures on the track. So far its been a winner.

I changed my ‘09 Cayenne GTS from Mobil1 to DI40. I did UOA on both oils and the DI40 showed significantly less wear metals. I’m sticking with it.

This thread has convinced me to change from DT40 to DI40 next oil change for my 996.1. I usually want the best oil regardless of price, but DI40 is getting up there. I'll probably FCP it for their oil return plan. Never did that before, because I just don't think it's fair to return oil, but I guess FCP has found a way to make their policy work. I'll buy everything else there also, which I guess is part of their plan.

.

Yes but the amount that it would cost you to ship it back to them will be 50% of new oil. At times, the time and agrovation of packing and dealing with shipping it, is not worth it. I tried once and said screw it. My time is worth more.

At $225 a case, anything adds up. Not cheap oil.

It was discontinued due to lack of demand.

Here is what I will be running in my diesels in place of DP40:

None whatsoever.

Swepco has always made great products and I like that their diesel oils are formulated with moly.

Seems like more are going to 50 weight oil in their M96 engines. I know I did and much better oil pressure.

I just picked up 2 gallons at the local Cummins office. They are $80/gallon. This is what it looks like:

Having ran this oil for a short OCI, keep in mind that you don't want to push the car too hard with it. 30 weight will cause some lower oil pressure. Nothing to be concerned about but it won't be as good as a 40 weight and definitely 50.

Thank you and thanks again for the info! I am going to try this in a Audi 2014 Q5 2.0T for my next OCI. The OCI likely will be a lot of highway driving and I never bang on this car that hard. I will run it for 3,000 miles and will change the oil filter mid-way at 1,500 miles. Then I will immediately switch back to DI40. Since I am only running this in the summer I am not concerned it is a 10W and about the hot viscosity you are right, this is not an oil you want to run long or hard -- 1.7 cSt @ 100C, thin as water haha

Here is the virgin analysis from the SDiax website for reference (bottle looks slightly different but i believe it is the same product):

In my experience, you can't run this oil much longer than 1-2k miles before it goes to ****. For sure, don't track any car with this oil.

FWIW, talked to Driven the other day about the difference in formula for DI40 and DI50. Same formula but more viscosity in DI50. They also said that as a result, there is no conflict in formula if you decide to run DI50 in warm months and DI40 in cold months.
