Default Coolant Reservoir

I've got a 99 C.1 with 82K mi. It is not a daily driver but gets exercised about once a week when the weather is nice.
Being a pilot, I am a big believer in preventive maintenance on items that can cause big problems if they fail.
I see a lot of chatter about the coolant reservoir and how it can get brittle, so I am going to replace it for no other reason than piece of mind.
As long as my Indy is in there, are there other things I should replace like hoses etc.? Anything else that will be exposed that they shoiuld take a look at?
Thnx

I did the water pump, thermostat and the fuel injectors all when I did the tank. Get the OEM factory tank. More money but worth not having leaks.

Depending on when your car was built, there had been some coolant hose/line updates implemented on the assembly line to address issues. My early '99 had the original style still intact and the hose was badly deteriorated due to the proximity to the headers. The new parts fix this issue. See this post for more info: https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...t-fitment.html

Default Tank

I just got a tank from FCP. The sensor hole is not actually a hole. Is that correct, or should the sensor be touching fluid?
thanks

It is just a hole. No coolant touches the sensor.

Not related to the coolant reservoir, but check the date code on the spare tire. It’s probably no longer reliable or viable.

The 99 has an external fuel filter that might not have been changed in a long time.

I am stuck replacing my coolant reservoir, in the worst way. Cant get the old one out, nor can I get it back in. I have lowered the engine as far as I can, I think if I could jack up the car, put stands under it, I could get the engine lower and that may solve my problems. Or, I have it as low as I can get it with out taking more apart. It looks to me like the bottom of the tank is hitting the intake manifold. I have disconnect the fuel line, the coolant lines, secondary air pump is removed.

Its the very bottom right hand corner.

any advice?
Thanks

No specific advice other than trying to wiggle it with little but rapid movements as if you'd vibrate it loose in order to refit or re-try removal.
And...don't give up! Others with practical reservoir removal experience will chime in eventually. It's RL after all

I seem to recall lowering the engine as far as possible AND wedging the engine to the right.

Remove the fuel rail cap circled in red and it will give you more room to remove it.
