As someone who has been at more derailments than I ever wished for I totally agree.

DB is right "The ship sank. End of story"

The only oddball topic we havent yet covered is a robust discussion on Meghan and Harry.

Oops...

Shouldn't give anyone any ideas.

That article referenced this sinking back in 2016.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grande_America

Only 37 Porsche's lost at sea that time.

I was at a multi brand Dealership today. Upstate New York
They loss zero Porsche, (10) VW, (3) Audi R8s.
Most of the cars on the boat were headed south.

As of this afternoon the shipping company's insurance is going to bring that ship up.
As of today the total lost & salvage to raise that ship combined will be $2 Billion.

Reports are it went down in @9,000 foot deep water! That would be EXPENSIVE. My question is why? Six days of fire then sea water...nothing left to reclaim, but maybe I'm missing something here.

I'll bet if you unravel the thread far enough, you will come to "Lithium Ion battery"......and maybe bunker fuel, although I don't happen to know what her propulsion system is....in other words I can't think of a single business reason to raise the ship beyond those. Certainly they have insurance, maybe there is an enviro clause......Euros take environmental seriously. I also don't know where she sank, if she was in Azores territorial waters....

Porsche if you are monitoring this I’ll pay 10 cents on a dollar on a gt3, make it easy whatever color you like.

Bunker fuel turns into a jelly like soild below about 80 degrees F, it needs to be heated to 120-150F in order to pump it to the engines. It isn't going anywhere.

My guess would be that they are raising the ship for environmental reasons. Could they be on the hook for the cost of bring it up as to not pollute the ocean?

Porsche says sure. Tell you what, we will do 5 cents on the dollar on that GT3 but you gotta go get it this week. We want it gone by Sunday morning. This is non-negotiable. Chop chop, clock is ticking.

I believe there would be insurance held by the shipping company against environmental impact. There is precedent for car carriers going amiss.
