996 Off Topic Thread
Instead of cluttering up Prices Keep Drifting Up, let's start our own OT thread.
Talk about boomers, corvettes, debate bore scoring or lightning strikes, whatever.
I'll start: boomers drive Corvettes with engines that don't get bore scoring and remain unaffected by lightning because the entire car is made of fiberglass.
Mods:.I am doing this to mitigate the cluster f in other threads, yes there's an off topic forum but most don't venture there and prefer the company of other 996 owners here in this subforum.

Ok, here we go - how to keep car up securely on a scissor lift that doesn't have physical locks for a longer period of time - talking about days or so at max so not about storing permanently like for the winter etc. The lift is from a reputable manufacturer so I'm not thinking that it would come down but so that it could make less strain on the hydraulic lock for example - thinking about longevity of that lift etc.

My boomer buddy has a '95? corvette ..., wears the New Balance and everything, kills me every time. Great dude.
Wouldn't leave a car in the air without physical locks if not working on it. Not sure about longevity or strain, but as a personal measure. Risk / reward.

They make a hydraulic check valve for cylinders that prevent movement if there is no pressure. If there r no mechnical locks one of these should be fitted to the cylinder and then its safe. Its how wheel lift assembly on tow trucks work.

Heh, that's actually why I'm asking - I have a Quickjack which I've been using now like a year or so. That locking mechanism is excellent because you can keep car there weeks if needed. Decided to get a Nussbaum Sprinter 7 (3000 in EU) because of a higher reach and for ease of use. Just wondering how to replicate that "feature"
