I had a guy on a motorcycle pull up in front of me on a road (83 Illinois) and proceeded to wheelie his motorcycle down the street in front of me. Then I changed lanes and he changed lanes and did it all over again. Must have been a full moon out or something.

My favorite is the guy in the 700hp camero that wants to drag race me from light to light.

Even better when you rev the engine a couple times pretending you're going to take the bait.

I’ve only been in this car for 6 months but I’ve yet to have anything like this happen. I keep expecting something whenever I see an M3 or a Camaro or something but so far I just seem invisible. Which is ok fine with me.

It's definitely not an occurrence every time the car is taken out, it just solicits those types of people every now and then. When driving the truck, I'll pass those same people and they won't even give a second look.

Definately not all the time. But it happens when you least expect it.

I know that type. Jason and I ran a track day at Thompson in less than perfect conditions. Guy in a black ZL-1 Camaro made it through 2 turns of the first lap before he spun and ended up in the creek backwards.

I've been wondering why we see so many odd behaviors on the road. My theory is that too many drivers are simply unaware of what is going on around them. Today's modern cars are so easy to drive that the car simply lulls people to sleep. Perhaps many drivers now think simply: "as long as I stay in my lane and don't hit the car in front of me I have no other responsibilities ". Which means, "I don't have to put any mental effort into driving, I can space out". So they are not concerned about what is happening around them. They drive short-sighted, simply follow the guy in front of me. They don't observe what is happening 3-5 cars ahead, nor monitor the rear view mirrors. And this is all compounded by a general "self-oriented" mindset so prevalent in our society today: "I got my lane, who cares about the other guy". Just a general disrespect for other people. If you've ever had some exposure to how the First Responders think and do their work: The number 1 priority is "Situational Awareness", and many people don't understand the value of constantly being aware of what is going on around them.

But it is different with you guys here on the forum. Porsche drivers are "into it", we keep an eye out, we understand the risks of driving, try not to step on others. There is an old article in Excellence Magazine where the interviewed the highway patrol. They stated clearly that they don't suspect or target Porsche drivers at all, they figure Porsche owners are knowledgeable about their cars and driving and generally are not the people to worry about on the road.

{My next observation will be: people who hog the left lanes and don't move over it they aren't actively passing someone, and the resulting endless passing / zipping by in the right lane!}

Hah! We had two guys at Blackhawk Farms Raceway one year that bought a Viper that was run in the ALMS series. Thing was powerful, it was loud, it was long, it didn't turn and this is a tight 2 mile track. These guys started in the fastest run group, out accelerated on every straight, tried to stay in front of every Porsche, but couldn't turn the car. And ended up holding every body up. They were black flagged and told to move to a slower group and learn how to drive the car.

Here’s hoping that as of January when I can get classic car plates (and flat $500 car value for property tax!) people will have more respect for an ‘old’ classic.

I get the age thing a lot, in the 996 and the Z4MC. People think they're much, much newer than they really are.

I gotta agree. The car is aging well. It's tough to tell the age of the 996 if you don't know the car.

So I got one sort of off topic. How do you guys keep from constantly wanting to buy and sell cars? I like my cars and am blessed to be a position to own them. Currently, have a R53 Mini, 99 911 and 2021 Tacoma. I like them all but part of me wants to also sell them all for new things, it drives me nuts.
