3.6L 996.2 Fuel Injectors in 3.4L 996.1 How To
I couldn't find pictures or a writeup for this so I took some while I hacked a bunch of injectors. I'm sure there's a better way to notch the injectors but I used the cutting wheel on a dremel.
Here they are side by side (white is 3.6 and black is 3.4)
The notch for the clip is 9.22mm from the top on the 3.4 injectors.
Fortunately, this happens to be right where the seam is on the 3.6L injectors:
Mark them up with Sharpie to aid visibility when cutting:
Not pretty but it's serviceable:
Test fitting:
There's a piece that sticks out of the injector body that indexes to the clip. I tried bending the tabs on one of the clips and both broke so I'm not sure how to get the anti rotation tabs engaged. If anyone has ideas, all ears.
Also, replacing the injectors makes me empathize with dentists as working in such a little space is quite the challenge.

Responded in the "What did you do..." thread with some pics of my injector mods. Looks like you got the hang of it.

I guess I’ll ask some dumb questions. Why upgrade the injectors on a stock 3.4L (I’m assuming) engine to the 3.6L ones, and don’t they already have upgraded injectors that fit without modification?

@yaz996 what did you end up doing about the anti-rotation tab?
Framed the shot with the box as an "attempt at your own risk" warning. (Ryan snagged that pic from my other post)

Yea, there was a thread a few years ago where everyone was bitchin about the cost of the 3.4 injectors being 4x more $$ than anything else.
The 3.4 uses EV1 metal body "pintle style" injectors.
The 3.6 came out with EV6 plastic "4 hole disk style" but still used the Minitimer connector (EV1) instead of the USCAR connector used on most all other EV6 injectors, so no wiring adaptor needed.
Plus the 10% more flow is better suited for the E10 fuel A/F ratio that is now ran in the 3.4 and will remain closer to ideal Lamda 1 (stoich)..The 996.1 was not designed for E10 so the 996.2 injector is a better fit flow wise.
So using the 996.2 injector in the 996.1 is a win-win-win, better spray pattern, better A/F Lamda 1 , lower cost $$$ ....

Yes, for $300 per injector for refurbed ones. Pelican doesn't even have new ones available vs $30 per injector for 996.2
