Man, what I'd do for a MK1 GT3...

Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with my C2 (early build + factory aero) and plan on turning it into a tasteful tribute car with the right suspension setup and swapping in some Sport Designs, but the forbidden fruit looks sweeter every day. Financially a long ways off and will be watching the 2024 fanfare on the sidelines, but it's certainly my "grail" car.

I have never seen an MKI RS

I’ve seen Cup (track) cars, but no MKI GT3RS

a .1 GT3 with the .2 fixings is the ultimate 996 IMO. Love my .2 but the .1 looks sooooooo good

L744 Black metallic has a gold hue, the PO had Feal Coil overs installed.

This is my 2000 model year 996.1 GT3 (non) ... i said to my wife i think i should take out my rear seat.. why she says, why to save weight of course... she shakes her head and mutters "your ridiculous"...

Factory .1 C2 XAA is definitely the 996 to have until 2024, besides the .2 GT3.... Then we'll see how many actually make it over. I've had my uncle in Dusseldorf keeping his eyes open for .1 GT3s for import. I'm sure some guys already have quite a few lined up to sell. It will be interesting to see how much they will be sold for once they're here.

Absolutely. Preaching to the choir here but I always considered the short list of NA variants at least being manual early-build .1's and C4S's in my mind, with bonus points for fun colors and XAA. The AE's I think will fare better in time than millennium's.

Certainly don't plan on selling mine for quite some time. If anything, I might list my E36 M3 to expedite upgrades, but that's another "sweet spot" car like the 996 that'll be hard to let go of; not too old, not too new, enough power to be fun, unique enough to be memorable.

Germany, well most countries in Western Europe, have similar laws and I don't think that any GT3 owner would have difficulties to keep a car in such a shape that it passes that test.
It certainly isn't a car you'd buy if the owner didn't have or spend the money to get it to pass...

Manthey offer(ed) an engine kit for the 996.1 gt3. They called it the K400 and netted 400PS. I guess that's the one to import.
