Yeah, you are looking at $10-15k in refresh preventative maintenence with a M96 engine, unless it's already been done. Don't know what the turbo engine refresh preventative maintenence would be. My guess is the same but different stuff. Yeah, yeah, I know it's a mezger, but it's a mezger with turbo bits on it.

Then comes the cost for the upgrades: suspension, brakes, wheels, interior, exterior, etc. But that's where the fun starts after you make sure the engine is in top form.

One sold in town recently via BaT for a steal, $25k I think.
Yep, the 40 AE is an undervalued gem as well. Folks will eventually figure it out.

Prices are accumulating in the percolators of the sensory deprivation tanks of Elon Musk's concubines.

That 2010 seems like a great deal. Coincidentally a white 6spd 2009 with 58k miles popped up on my facebook marketplace feed for $49k. Good shape 997.2s seemed to be listing in the $60s not that long ago.

The 996 C4S is just a different beast. Without getting into the mechanics which others have explained here, it’s just so easy to identify over any other 911 excluding the 996 Turbo. Even they are different unlike the m491 and the 930 besides the script. The headlights, hips and heckblende separate it imo. Any Heckblende after is just a silly attempt at the tribute to the past IMO. You can always make one faster or 2wd. Can’t really make others look like a C4S though. Likely won’t be a future C4S tribute build. It is beyond just adding a script and a duck tail. AE might be a smidge faster but I can’t imagine it breaks any necks and you could build one. Anyhow, I think they are properly priced between the base and the C4S. Would I want an AE, heck blende yes but not before a C4S.
Different seat for every bum. I’m a cruiser, not a racer so maybe that adds into my assumption.

Recently I've been getting the feels for an Audi R8 V10 Spyder (used of course). Would have to part with my C4S to make that happen tho which would be tough. But, if they command top dollar one day, as some folks here predict, it's gonna be tempting. But who knows what'll happen with the Pcar market.

^Understandable. This beauty is in our shop getting a few things added on. The owner allowed me the pleasure of driving it, and it did not disappoint!

I can't imagine debating a C4S over an R8. Make the jump, man.

Price difference is definitely a consideration.

Not sure but my daily is an A5 and even though under warranty, it's been reliable.

Audi makes an awesome car. I have owned 9 of them. Have the Q7 and A5 right now. Audi bumper too bumper warranties are excellent. As much as I am an Audi nut, I never checked into what the costs of the R10 would be to keep it running nor do I know where the landmines are hidden. Since you are an A5 owner under warranty, bet your service team could tell you. Cool car without a doubt.

This might be interesting. 996.1 with nice color and options, plus intermix.

Another interesting one. C4S with spotted past -- and a VF supercharger.

I saw that on BAT, it is a lovely color and looks to have been maintained, the engine repair costs on these are brutal though, if i had a crappy 996 with a good running engine id be tempted, there is a you tube guy Nathans Porsche channel, he used to do BMW V10 M5's and now hes on a porsche kick, he has a red 996 on his channel with intermix right now... he had hoped it was the AOS but hes got it stripped all the way down, i am not sure what he ended up finding wrong with it, but hes had the heads skimmed, he definitely took the engine out full strip down and sent out heads for repair and i think crack testing, i guess if that BAT ar is running someone might take a chance on the engine being repairable, or maybe the Audi 2.7 swap ive heard about.
