my turbos are supposed to be K24s, we just need to check if they have been upgraded. I have better intercoolers, diverter valves, gasket matched headers and exhaust, 2.5 Sachs clutch and some kind of upgraded shifter. After we see what injectors I have we will go from there. What I can tell is this car is fast. No I ain’t paying $200k for s or gt2, I’ll have a total of $65k on my car and it will smoke a gt2 any day of the week.my no fear t shirt says bite me on the back, 😂.

Dave, congrats on the sale. Hopefully the 996 community learned from what you did to properly maintain, service and ultimately prepare a 996 for sale. Especially in a very weak market environment. Too much crap being sold on Bat to unsuspecting buyers.

The buyer got an exceptional car!

Good luck with your next steps. You will be missed!

Thank you

There were a handful of RL members that were extremely helpful to me in preparing and during this process. They helped keep me calm, when a few challenging moments reared their ugly head.

You know who you are, and my wife and I are extremely grateful.

The gentleman who purchased the car is a very nice person.

Thanks to the nice people here on RL

Keeping my Cayenne for a long while yet, so Porsche Flag hangs high

If any of you are planning on selling a car on a similar type platform and want to hear a little bit about what you might encounter send a pm.

David

While prices drift higher so do my miles on the clock:

Bought it with 21,700 miles in March 2019. Only 5,500 miles in last 16 months since 997.2 came into my garage.

997.2 4s, 18k miles put on the FSI 4.0 in 16 months. My new DD.

"Please note that this vehicle will not be sold for use or resale in California or to a non-dealer California resident."

Does this mean the car doesn't pass smog? Such a beautiful car. Weird addendum for a car being auctioned in California. Unless I'm reading that wrong.

I REALLY hope it's not due to the intake that's on it, as that would be silly for the seller/auction house to not replace with a stock one if that is indeed the case.

Only other thing I can think of is some kind of exhaust modification: high-flow/no cats, etc. But the description doesn't mention that, and I can't make it out in the pictures.

That is very weird. Pretty weird to see a non-GT 996 in a Goodings auction in the first place. With these high-end auctions, I've seen a lot of liberties taken in the listing descriptions. I've never seen one that flat out said something that wasn't true, but I've seen them leave a lot out of the description that should not be left out.

Default That’s exactly what it means

That’s the standard line for cars that won’t smog that are being auctioned in this glorious state.

I wonder why it won't pass smog and why they don't say why it won't pass smog.

I don’t think they care. The phrase also gets used for any import post ‘68 that wasn’t DOT approved. The 25 year rule doesn’t apply here either.
But the houses auction that stuff in California all the time.

Here's an example from a long time ago (2013) of a high-end auction description leaving hugely important information out (https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/209...a_currency=GBP)

The description talks about the difference between the "Series 1" 330 GT (4 headlights) and the "Series 2" 330 GT" (2 headlights), that part is accurate and generic information. The Series 2's are worth a lot more because they look a lot better (plus 5-speed (vs. 4-speed+overdrive) and other advances). The car being auctioned is a Series 1, but the body has been converted to a Series 2 look. Only the last paragraph of the listing description is about the car being auctioned, and although it does slip in Series 1 in the description, it doesn't even mention that the body is not original and has been modified to look like a Series 2 . Most people looking at this listing would think it was a Series 2 car from the photos, and it's pretty difficult to discern that isn't a series 2 from the description.

You would expect better descriptions from a high-end auction, but that isn't the case. I'd trust the descriptions on BaT more than most of the high-end auction houses.

Those descriptions on BaT are a topic for a thread all by it self.

If you have used BaT as a seller in the past year, you might agree/disagree, but they are put together in a way I couldn't have imagined till I listed my car.
