Hi, I have a Amber 03/98 621106 31,000 miles, it’s completely original, besides normal ware and tear maintenance, rubber parts mainly the only thing I’ve done is a ashtray delete. The question, is there any advantage leaving it completely original and if anything is replaced, use original Porsche parts

Maybe? No way to tell how the market will go but it certainly will drop and rise to some degree. That being said a clean, lower mileage stock example will certainly fetch more than one with mods BUT its your car and if you want to do stuff with it then do it. I think the reality is, even with the values up, unless you bought at the absolute rock bottom price you are better off investing money elsewhere if you want a return. Moral of the story, its your car, its not a museum piece so do what you want with it!

not sure I agree on the return aspect of your comments, seems everyone thinks 20+% returns are the norm in the stock market and a lesser degree real estate. How quickly people forget the yrs where making 10% was good and 15-20% fn great.. a few collectibles or soon to be, can add some diversification, which in my experience is welcomed.

Yep. It's called recency bias.
Seems the stock market is suffering from a bad case of it right now, just like home prices in the mid 2000's, tech stocks during the dot.com bubble, Japanese stocks in the 80's. Yadayadayada.
A little diversification with non-correlated assets is always prudent.
they look very, very similar. in those two pictures the 996 looks better to me, but only because of the OEM wheels.
Much prefer prefer the 996's shorter front overhang. The rake in the sideskirts gives it a more aggressive looking stance. And yes, the wheels are much nicer.

To my eyes, the 996 is much prettier. 997 looks bloated..
IMO 996 is prettier than the 997 in any iteration, inside and out. DFI 997 in dark color is nice from the rear, but that's only because of the 996 lineage.

true the side skirts are more aggressive. i think the front overhang difference is exaggerated by the angle of the photograph a little. I believe they are fairly close in dimension but overall the 996 definitely does look more aggressive
