https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...1-carrera-199/

I tried to help correct a few things in the ad and I get this self righteous know it all jumping down my throat :

SchwarzHorse @BigTaco : the “CD Compartment” option 424 is the Sony multi-disc player component located in the front trunk. And there might be an additional single CD slot behind the face of this car’s correct Becker stereo . Nothing was changed out nor was anything relocated

That's definitely one of the cons to BAT compared to a standard auction, you can get quite the peanut gallery going online spewing whatever information they want. If BAT didn't increase the amount of listings they might be able to control some of that stuff better. Hell it seems like their listings alone are starting to have more and more errors.

BaT peanut gallery cuts both ways. Obviously the platform works well or they wouldn’t be raking millions

The CA guy who bought my Speed Yellow Carrera last year is still contacting me about how happy he is with the car. Where else but BaT will you find a flawless (and I mean flawless) unicorn color 911 for a halfway decent price?? He paid $32K and now a year later it’s worth at least $5K more.

Try convincing him BaT is a “ripoff for buyers”.

He’s still laughing all the way to the bank in a perfect (and I mean perfect) Speed Yellow 911

Me thinks you are a little thin-skinned. Nothing here falls under "...jumping down your throat." Just typical BaT back-and-forth.

BaT accepts <50% of the listings that are tendered. Sure there are errors but the peanut gallery uncovers those quickly. I look at some of the Craiglist or FB listings and can't imagine ever buying a car there. The information is scant. And yes - I bought my 2000 911 C2 on BaT and the experience was perfect. In fact - the more comments the better when you are buying.

Not thin skinned, the guy tried to matter of factly correct me when he is just flat out wrong on all accounts.

100% agree with the sentiment that besides the car being well sorted and particular color combos, quality photos will drive the price and sometime by surprising amounts. I sometimes cringe and wonder how some photos make it to the listings. The quality and redundancy of the same shot. No, I do not need to see essentially the same side shot in 9 consecutive photos. Quality over quantity. I'm looking at you, listings with 140 photos!

I got my C4S on craigslist - that's where the best deals are. But you have to stick to local listings. The opportunity to see and test drive the car and to meet the previous owner in person is something that you miss with online auctions.

Speaking of Craigslist, is this really cheap for a 993 or is this what an automatic cab is worth ?

Automatic Zenith Aero. I don't think it's a factory installed Aero, doesn't show on the options list https://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/ct...354487430.html

Got my Glacier 99 on CL for 29. Virtually same car with same low miles sold on BaT three years earlier for 36 plus fees. Asked seller why he didn't put on BaT. Too much hassle was his logic. CL easy.
