If you don't think 996 prices are on the rise, check out this sale yesterday:

That's a really strong price, especially for a car with a red interior. LOL

There must have been at least a couple of bidders that really liked some of the unique specs of that car to push the sale price that high.

Everyone's tastes are different I suppose. I thought mine would go for higher, but oh well lol. Mine only had 18k miles, and I much prefer the interior of mine. 996s are def on the rise!

Silver and red isn't a bad combo although I think the e46 M3 pulls it off way better from this era. There are a bunch of 996 auctions going on right now and I am interested in seeing the results, especially on the non turbo or 4s.

Agreed, certainly not for everyone. The weirder the car, the higher the price on BaT. I'd be tired of that interior color quickly.

I’m a sucker for wacky interior colors. I’d never tire of the red. Here’s the Halloween theme of my wife’s M3.

Wow! Great price, borderline unbelievable actually. I've recently dropped the asking price of my C4S to 30k. Had a few offers in the mid-20s that I've rejected. It seems there aren't tons of buyers out there willing to pay the premium but they do exist.

Wow. Great to see this kind of thing. It was only 4 years ago some of us were posting questions wondering if the 996 would stop depreciating and remain flat.

So this is a nice surprise 😁

It might be a temporary high bump though; we’ll have to see.

I hope to be setting a BaT record in the spring of 2021 with Project R40 :-)

Was that the one that blew up in Texas on his way home from picking the car up in California?

Agree that the Silver/Red drove the price up. It's not a rare combo on Mk1 Carreras but it is on 02+ 4S cars. As mentioned above - "interesting choices" not for everyone but definitely for someone. I saw that red interior and said to myself "oh baby, that interior is HOT!"

Nope, two different cars. I was referring to a 40th anniversary car that recently sold for about $43k. I was lucky to snag one for significantly less, albeit with some more miles. The one you're thinking off was the beautiful red Targa with gold BBS wheels that went boom and ended up at Flat6. Not sure if Jake is at liberty to share details but would be cool to see what's happening with that. It was quite a thread!

It makes sense that 996 prices are on the rise, they are fantastic cars. I can't believe how good my 2000 C2 is, brings a smile every time I drive it. They are still underappreciated.
