I’m in the same boat with the Seven. Perfect weather for driving it but some idiot decided to pull the engine and fix the leaks. Now I’m stuck waiting for the idiot to finish the damned thing.

Rear lighting harness - 7 wires to power all rear lights.
Front lighting / horn harness - 6 wires to power it all.
Little finish work to get them complete, waiting on some supplies to arrive but they pin to pin out so should be functional. Big....Huge thanks to MaAaron for helping me over the weekend, definitely gave me the push to break through a bit of a log jam. Maybe a little momentum now with the critical wiring still to come but a good plan in hand.

Saw that and yeah...made me a little jellies I'm not hanging a couple turbos off mine but we all need to leave room for growth, right ?
Got the bulk of the parts I needed that weren't currently on-hand in for mission "wire the damn car, idiot". I would classify these parts as nice, but not race car. As much as I would like to have a nice motorsport grade harness, I don't have the planning talent to feel comfortable with that investment right off rip, quite a few areas with a motorsport harness if it does not work as you intended, its a ton of steps backwards to recover. This stuff, much less so. A nice thing about these connectors is they use DT pins, these are pretty ubiquitous and the same style used for the DT connectors I use at devices. This means I didn't need to acquire expensive tooling and they are really friendly to work with. I have a fair amount of history with this style of pin and connector and they are a good fit for ease of use and reliability. The connectors secure to each other with a quarter turn and are keyed so you can't put them on incorrectly (dare I say...idiot proof).
The larger connector is going to be a bulkhead from the PDM to all the wiring supporting the front of the car. The smaller connector is solely devoted to the ABS. There are also 2 high power DTP connectors that are set aside for the highest current items in the front, the fuel pump and cooling fan.
Onward !

Totally makes sense. Go with what you know and can fix trackside. May not be race harness stuff, but plenty of aircraft wire runs use these pins and connectors.

More progress, ABS bulkhead is done, PDM to front bulkhead is done and PDM to rear lighting is done. All continuity tested, so things are connected and in the places they're supposed to be. Touching on the wires for the PDM all being the same color. Once I got the length I wanted the wires to be, I re-marked them with both the channel name as well as assigned them colors, same as there would be on standard wiring. Except in this case, I can assign any color, or combo of colors I want. I just bought a heat shrink kit of a couple colors and cut them into bands. Use the new channel marking and bands as my reference for where to cut the wire, cut, crimp and terminate... rinse and repeat while checking off the docs and noting what colors were assigned to each wire.

zbomb - How are you documenting the wire runs? Did you do something like a spreadsheet for each bundle with associated wire color codes and pin locations?

Just a pic I like, not related to chart above. This is the frunk side of the front bulkhead harness, did not need to mark the bulkhead side as the other ends of the wires are marked. This will get installed and wires run to the specific devices, at that point I will designate all the wires at the cut spot.

Thanks for the 3d printed shock canister mounts guys! I finally got them installed and they work very well, much better than my previous zip tie affair. Cheers!

Wow some mad skills on display here, what a community. It's fun to observe and educational as well. Tho, most of the stuff you guys attempt and achieve is not something I would attempt at all, still there's lots of knowledge on display that benefits a driveway non mechanic anyway. Sometimes I surprise my Indy, theory only of course, and I tell him it's rennlist and YouTube.

Thanks for the kind words...
Made some good progress this weekend although not as much as I would like. Some component location selection choices made which allowed me to actually see some things in the place where they will live and generally what the cabin will look like. Have to say, wiring is by far the work that gives me the least visual progress per hour worked.

Right now, I just want to get it running in anger. Perfect will not be the enemy of good enough to learn.
